Recently had a 991 911, white with black wheels and it got universally bad attention on the road. EVERONE trying to race me in whatever pile of crap they had and trying to out drive me by driving like a spaz (and putting everyone in harms way!). Got very little positive attention of any kind.
I get that. Had a black 997.2 C4S. Same scenario. Shame as the car was phenomenal.
Same here, 996 and just prats trying to race constantly.
996 again here - mixed bag.

Guys at work thought I was rich for some reason? Had no idea of the true value of 996's, gave a few goes in mine and one guy ended up converting wink

On the road? constant hassle.... just seems to bring out the worst in people, cutting up at junctions, no one lets you out etc.... and the racing from every stbox gets dull after a while.

But what do I care eh? happy in myself.

Until about 6 months ago, this E28 was my daily, did 20k miles a year for 3 years. At least 1 'Thumbs Up' on a daily basis.

My Current Pug 205 only gets about 2-3 Thumbs Up weekly.

My Merc (unsurprisingly) gets bugger all attention. Only the very trained eye knows what it is. Just an old banger to most folk I imagine.

GT86 Gets a little bit of admiring looks but no 'Thumbs Up' yet

Classic cars definitely get more attention IMHO.

My S8 Audi gets a lot mainly because of the miltek exhaust.

On holiday in Bordeaux I was followed by a youth in a Barried up people carrier. When I pulled into a car park he pulled up abruptly alongside us and I thought we were going to get mugged/car jacked/stabbed but le youth cupped a hand to his ear and pointed at the car. I revved the engine and he pulled a funny face like a boxing day poo grimmace then did a funnny flicking hand gesture and drove off. I think he thought the car was 'phat'. Like the driver.

Innit.

When in the CLK's I get looks but that's because they've got some nice upgrades, but I have similar upgrades on my E500 & get a lot less attention unless I open it up, I don't mind either way but it's nice when you get a nod.

My 320d touring - invisible

My Tiger 1050 - invisible (unfortunately sometimes!)

My 911 - generally gets a positive reaction, more so the older it gets confirming the classic car theory. I've also found the reaction is even more positive again on the continent with lots of interest and zero negative vibes....makes it less worrying when we have to park it up more than anything else!

Same here - Mine's an R reg 996 C2 with 171k miles on the clock ... It's in nice condition but still .... I get a lot of remarks, 'ooohs' and looks that suggest the person thinks i'm loaded, when most of the time their van or their 2 year old Golf is probably worth twice as much.

I don't really notice whether people notice me to be honest, but in general:

e46 Touring - nothing that I have noticed. Looks tidy in blue in sport spec, but "understated"
e36 Cab - not really, although the usual "wker" signs with the roof down. Strangely I get lots of comments about it from non-car friends who assume it is really expensive, despite being worth less than a grand! A couple of times I have had nice comments in the petrol station which I find bizarre about a common car in average condition!
Saab 9000 - nope (which was just how I liked it!)
TVR S2 - a fair few looks, mostly for the noise I think. I used to enjoy it when people would motion to me to slow down with frantic hand waving when I was well within the speed limit, as I would smile and wave back!
Saab 900 T16S - used to get some looks and comments when it was a daily (10 years ago) but don't drive it much these days. When I do very little attention I think. Which surprises me really as it's a rare sight on the roads I would think it would get attention.

2010 R56 Mini: invisible even though it's bright red.

1995 Audi S2: nostalgic interest from a few - usually along the lines of "my Dad had one of those" or "don't see many of those any more".

My Blue 2004 Alfa GT - Astonishingly people still crane their neck to look at it, often spot people checking it out when its parked.

Girlfriends red mk3 MX5 - the kids love it. I was fitting an aux lead to the cd changer output one weekend, and a mother came up to me with her kid telling me how they walk past it every day, and it is her childs favourite car on the road.

Other past Alfa's (apart from the GTV) didn't really get that much attention.

The TVR/Maserati definitely did, although :

TVR - Elderly people/neighbours hated it, and particularly as I let it idle for 2 minutes in the cold to lets the idle settle. However most people responded well. People in europe loved it, beyond intrigued.

Maserati - People tend to hate you, with the occasional nods of appreciation. I was always afraid to leave it in a car park.

Caterham 7 - I drove a friends caterham down to Spain, again looks everywhere and many many many questions in the car park/petrol station e.t.c

Partof the reason I sold my evo was because of the attention. Usually corsas wanting a race. They can snap a coppers neck from 2 miles away too.

Know got a V8 S5 which just seems to annoy people. It is very loud though.

Well in the Rover (Tomcat) Coupe I seem to get a fare few rubber necks plus a reasonable amount of cars that I see coming haring up on in the right hand lane (dual carriageway) then... nothing the expected overtake doesn't happen then after a pause they come past, though one incident stuck rather in my mind, a TT just sat next to me for what must've been a mile and a half.

The only negatives I've had since getting the old girl back on the road are one young prat in an i10 who though his stbox was faster then it I ended off playing a bit with the fool. The other two have been from SUV drivers who think they can match its cornering ability, thankfully in one case I went in hotter than I usually do into an empty roundabout only to see the RAV4 owner st himself and wobble in behind me, had it been slower he'd have side swiped me.

The soon, hopefully, to be departed Alfa 159Ti has had the same overtake/pause... pause.../continue on their way as the Rover, I was putting my laptop backpack in the boot after work and a guy in a Zafira waiting at the traffic lights behind the car park drops his window and shouts 'nice car!'. One unexpected incident was a car seeing me behind them (not gaining ground on them, maintaining a nice relaxed safe distance) pulls into a gap in traffic in the left lane, slows a touch, I overtake then pulls back in behind me and keeps a safe and respectful distance.

The Merc I had before the Alfa though was nothing but an ahole magnet, I was glad to see the back of it.

As far as the Alfa's replacement goes, we'll have to wait and see, the first time I've been truly excited about a car purchase since buying the Rover.

It gets a fair amount of attention I suppose, good and bad.
laugh Couldn't of put it better. That's pretty much the response/ reaction mine draws, although people usually end up double taking it as they try compute why it doesn't have the 'correct' number of doors;

As for my daily, most people seem to assume I'm a tt/ looked genuinely surprised when I let them out of junctions/ indicate/ drive correctly;

But by and large, it slips under the radar of most. Complete polar opposite of the ASBO Impreza laugh

I fondly remember a few instances of people being quite obvious when looking at my old GT.
