In what way is it irrelevant? In the way that it points out that the fastest production car of this chap's initial foray into motoring is now eclipsed by a Ford hatchback. It shows how things have progressed over time and the perspective this puts the relative performance of the Focus RS into, as well as the price point it sat at when new and sits at now relative to what a 911 would've cost back then. The high performance is far more accessible by the masses and not just the 'elite' as it were.

Honestly, this thread's been hard work to get through(!)

I love the 5-cylinder sounds these things make and but every one I see is driven by a complete tool and that kind of tarnishes it for me. Whether they're worth £20k is subjective as this thread's shown. It's worth what someone's prepared to pay for it just as other cars mentioned show. Let's just enjoy the fact that cars like this have been produced and leave it at that. Though I guess it is a forum and by definition a debating platform that'll create the back and forths of a 10-page thread like this one.

Probably a similar amount to what a focus RS will be worth in 30 years time. smile

It's hardly news that a new hot hatch will out perform a 30 year old sports car. To suggest that any modern car is as characterful, fun, relevant as an old 911 just shows how much people care these days about driving. It's a fairly simple equation power to weight, as are the advances in modern technology benefiting grip, stability etc. Do these 'enhancements' make them better, that's subjective and I would suggest no.

You cannot compare the two. It is irrelevant.

Honestly, read their post, did they mention anything about character? Or fun? Or driving dynamics? No, they didn't. All they mentioned was performance. It's relevant to them and the fact it was an RS involved that they own and have owned for some time makes it relevant to this thread.
