Best smoker barges 1-5 large [vol11]
Discussion
Currently visiting my Mum here in the Black Forest and noticed a few Oldtimers and Youngtimers arriving here this evening including a nice E34 M5.
Turns out there's a rally taking place through the southern Black Forest and it's finishing a few minutes walk away in the Marktplatz of this town tomorrow afternoon.
I will try to get as many pictures of those of Bargista interest as possible. I'll give all the super-expensive vintage ste (mostly bearing "CH" plates) a miss!

A pleasing segue into the world of caravans etc.
I am getting to an age where the notion appeals however I just can't pull the trigger on it. On the other hand, something like this would be a no-brainer:

Complete with pristine mini in the back.
Apologies for the wonky-ness, buggered if I know how to get the photo straight.

This would need a haggle to get within budget, but petrol V8, with a branded spare wheel LPG conversion, low miles, and sensible colours. I really like the look of it:

"Trade sale".....run for the hills....http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...
May as well bet £6k on black!
Over budget... probably over budget even with a very good haggle... but close enough, and barge enough, for me to feel it needed to make an appearance here. V12 Jaguar loveliness for what seems like a silly small price.... only 50,000 miles!?

Interesting to read about the camper ideas here. I've been drawing up plans to make a camper with a double bed and kitchenette in a Mercedes V280.
I'm good with all the wood working bits and I've even drawn up plans from measuring a friend's Vito.
I'll have to actually do it though. I've done a lot of research and I've got a few gigabytes of reading material and photos on my PC. I helped build a horse lorry interior when I was 17 or 18 and realised just how easy it is. The thing putting me off is that I can't weld, and we know what Vitos are like

Plenty of miles, but this offers a lot of barge for half thread budget...

Bizarre Photoshop on the images though...

or just get a Hymer, which will be based on various Merc chassis:I'm good with all the wood working bits and I've even drawn up plans from measuring a friend's Vito.

quite a following with these, so you wouldn't lose any money on them.

That's not really the issue, it's a project that I would like to do myself and would want to do how I want it. I'm perfectly capable of doing it, but I'll probably never get round to it.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-Hymer-Mercedes-S660...

Also, the idea was to have something very compact for no more than two people - they're enormous compared to the Vito/V-Class body
Part of the idea was that you see VW T4 camper vans everywhere. I prefer the Mercedes styling and I like that the V280 has a 2.8 VR6 - a six cylinder petrol and keeping some VW camper cred (in my mind)
And I've priced everything up - with many evenings and weekends putting stuff together, I am pretty sure I could do it just how I'd like it for £3500 all in. That's with £750 for unexpected stuff. It would be basic but comfortable and well-fitted

For some reason I like that style of Vito as in the picture, seem to be good value as well. We were out in our Hymer last week and there was a Vito just like that one in the campsite that had been tricked up with fridge, curtains etc. Looked really clean and well done, certainly would stand out from the VW crowd and still looked pretty cool.

That's a nice-looking car. Not sure the ad fills me with confidence, but if the car checks out that would be a really decent buy. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

I thought "XJS" and "rust-free" were mutually exclusive propositions. Also you sense from the tyres alone (P4000s, long out of production) that it has been stood for a long time and that doesn't help.

However at that price it's worth it as a piece of sculpture, not so much SORN'd as installed.

I would feel a lot less suspicious of the ad, if it were listed at £9995... bizarrely. But it's hard to ignore the V12 at veritable peanut money.
