Don't understand why it's not £4k as mentioned!
Further to X350 talk above, what was the 3.6 V8 like? Tragic leaper aside I like this one.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017... £3k pre-haggle, looks like a good machine. No MOT history as the plate is now on an XF sadly.

At least with a Jag any faults can be dismissed as character
I think Autotraders claimed average 26 mpg is a tad optimistic
Not sure about the V8 in these,I believe poor paint is quite common though.
Lovely place to waft along, as you cruise the car park looking for a cluster of 4 spaces!

'tis per the NEDC results, I'd expect mid 20s plus when relaxed cruising. Obviously much, much less when pressing on.At least with a Jag any faults can be dismissed as character

Someone on this thread bought an X308 V8 and managed 20-odd on a run, that's without the aluminium body shedding a bit of weight.

Man maths: EXTREME EDITION
Why would you drive a car that will depreciate?
Why would you drive a Jag that only gives you half the Jaaaaaaag experience, when you could go full-fat!
V12, 1980s goodness. A good haggle would probably bring you down to sub £5k!
V12 XJS - £5,790

No no no no no no.
Back in June I asked for recommendations for a driving holiday in Wales. Responses included these:
This thread, as is so often the case, delivers in wonderful, random ways.

I would come over from Gloucestershire via some of the more interesting roads that criss cross the Brecon Beacons. Roads like the Rhigos mountain road and A4069 are outstanding. Slow route but stunning and surely better than the M4 and into Pembs.

Lovely quiet homely stuff and a wonderful restaurant here:

Not cheap, but a real treat. Nice roads to and from, in most directions.
We followed this advice, and stayed at SJ's recommendation last night. All I can say is that the tips were top notch, and we had a lovely time. Great roads, great driving, a trouble-free classic to enjoy it in (the car, not the wife), and some brilliant food at Tyddyn Llan; highly recommended.http://www.tyddynllan.co.uk/

The X350 XJR does low 30s on a run. I've averaged 27 over the past 3000 miles or so. Miss Daisy would not have enjoy many of the journeys.
The 3.5 doesn't make sense.

Two current lust objects, both out of budget, but since they average out within the limits it's definitely within the rules.

Look past the chrome wheel arch trims and the £18k price tag and here, surely, is nirvana.
Green velours.
5.0litre V8.
Air bag. Air con. Heated seats. On a 1981. Somebody went to town but... keep fit windows!!!

I have wondered about that V8, if it's a bit like the e39 535i in that you're as well getting the bigger V8 or sticking to the 6 cylinder car.
V8 running costs with 6 cylinder performance?
Looking at the NEDC figures (and what more consistent benchmark is there?), the six and 3.5 are within .5 mpg of each other on the combined cycle, with identical extra-urban figures. The 4.2 is another .5 down on the 3.5 combined, so nothing in it really!V8 running costs with 6 cylinder performance?

That Rover! Good lord above, at that price if it was anywhere even vaguely near me I'd be contriving reasons to buy it in the car on my way to see it! Two current lust objects, both out of budget, but since they average out within the limits it's definitely within the rules.

I do hope some enlightened bargist buys it and cherishes it, rather than a lesser mortal buying it because it's cheap and not looking after it
E500 Elegance estate. I post it here for the stereo. Sounds like it might be interesting.

I used to drive those roads quite a lot in my mx5 but that was before children.
I no longer have the time to drive for pleasure alone and even if I did my current car is un-affectionately known as 'that Korean s##t box' so there'd be no point.
Curse my fertile loins and curse £50 a day nurseries!
