I'd say a little prevention might be worth the investment before it gets too salty. Looks like a good purchase though, when's the next inspection due?

10 year ownership and you're not having his AA badge, now that's a seller you want!

I agree. If that was an estate I'd buy it just because.

Some of it have to be adressed I reckon. The southern Swedish winter weather is brutal, too cold not to pour enormous amounts of salt on the roads and warm enough that the roads hardly ever freeze with all that salt on them, so it's a constant salty slurry everywhere, and that'll wreak havoc on the already crusty bits I reckon. Paint is out of the question since the M5 needs quite alot done this winter and funds are not un-limited, so I'm thinking grinding/sanding, rust-proofing, primer and possibly plastidip it I can find a colour similar to this one.

Or I can just accept that it's an £800 car thats comfy, quiet and relatively frugal and live with the rust biggrin
£800?! Did you find that on Blocket?

It appears I got my exchange rate a bit off, The Pound is usually alot more expensive than now, thanks Brexit? wink . It was advertised for 16500 Swedish or £1400, which I payed un-seen. When I went to collect it yesterday evening, dark and in the rain of course, the best car buying weather as you all know wink the car it was ALOT rustier than described so I haggled the price down quite a bit, I payed 12500 SEk, or £1081. Still OK I think.

I'll try to remove as much rust as I can and prime it, otherwise it will be very crusty come spring. It's due no later than 2018-02-28. The interior is near mint, so I'm happy enough, will snap a few more of that, maybe a readers thread.

Loving that e38 PowerslideSWE. Beautiful.

Isn't that era of 535i a V6? Didn't they move to a straight 6 later in the e34 lifespan?
I'm not aware of any V6 BMW cars, but I am no expert

If its a BMW and has six cylinders, they are inline. No inferior configurations with their unwelcome second order vibrations please...

Rare? Yep.
Jap? Yep.
Barge? ???

I like these things, but I do feel that their rarity is a negative rather than a positive. If you want a quick Japanese 4WD estate, surely Subaru would be the better bet?
