Spotted Ordinary Abandoned Vehicles
Discussion
Spotted in the garden of the residence of the Zimbabwean High Commissioner. which explain the "290D" plates. The Merc has a flag mount on the front wing - must have been the official car, just parked up when the replacement arrived. There were a few more crusty Mercs on the other side but I didn't fancy hanging about taking photos....

Ford Transit Connect. MOT expired 2016
Sat looking very sorry for itself tucked behind the gun shed at Crownhill fort.
I'd love to know the history behind newer stuff like this. I can understand older vehicles with no value just being abandoned and forgotten about, but there'll still have been some value left in this. Decent spec and looks quite tidy aside from three years of grime. Low mileage too. Sat looking very sorry for itself tucked behind the gun shed at Crownhill fort.

Spotted in Roquetas de Mar, southern Spain. No MOT since 2011, doesn’t look to have moved for a while
Regular thing so my Father in law told me. Buy a cheap car / van over here to move your stuff to your retirement home. Then run it round for a bit until it breaks, then dump it. He bought a Citroen van that he used for a few trips, then parked it up in a field with the other abandoned ex-pat cars. Steamer said:

Doesn't get much more "ordinary" than an early Mondeo. Had never noticed it before but it is very green and doesn't look like its gone anywhere for some time
That must have been off the road for a while - Its the first one I've ever seen without a gaffer-tape rear bumper! https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Not a great pic as it’s hard to take one while..... sitting in the passenger seat map-reading....
It has sat in the same spot for quite a few years now, the house has also sat empty for a long time, the owner lives around the corner in a new build, I believe he’s Chinese and owns restaurants. All very odd!

The house was immaculate and not that old before they got it too so I wouldn’t necessarily say it would have had to be faulty for them to park it up. It’s in a lot worse state than it looks in that pic, lots of green, the house has been swallowed by ivy. I think it’s been sat there for 3 years.

Charming! The automotive equivalent of dropping litter over your new hosts lawn.

I used to live in an apartment block mostly populated by Chinese people, and a lot of them seemed to treat cars unusually. At the time (around 2011), there were a number of "nice" premium cars about, that after a while were just parked up in the basement car park and left. Twice while I was there I believe the management company had a cull and got all of the cars dragged out. I remember parking right next to a really tidy 4/5 year old S-Class that just got thicker and thicker with dust, but there were loads down there.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
