Once again you and I are very alike.....

The "market" is indeed a strange place, are they trading slightly above what they are worth ? Probably, but not by a great deal. They seemed to go as low as £70,000 but have rallied from there.

The cheapest in the UK is the wrapped Burnt orange LHD one at £99,999 cheapest European one €130,000.

The killer with them is Servicing, £2000 plus VAT for fluid filters and plugs, plus a "visual inspection" seems lumpy, there are a couple of us on here that do tinker, and they are not that difficult to work on.

As with lots of cars unless you have experienced one - especially with an 8 year old boy, you may not get it.....
How often do you do plugs though? Most would be lightly used and not require plugs until say every 4 years. Interim services are less than 1k.

I paid 2k inclusive for a major service from a main dealer.

That's a crazy amount of money to pay for a stamp in a book. Are the dealers charging £400 p/hr?

I guess values come strictly down to availability and understanding the marque. 85% of the cars for sale on PH and Auto trader today are egear cars and it may seem like a small thing but the gearbox makes a gigantic difference to the overall package. Most of the good manuals are already long term keepers and when a rhd manual does pop up for sale it's usually sold within a week or two .If you haven't driven a manual Murcie you just won't really understand what all the fuss is about. £100k is a bargain

Yes it is not every year, but it is still a lumpy number for the job. I understand not everybody has any interest in DIY and there is a value in a dealer stamp, but these are not overly hard cars to work on.

I think I was about £450, for plugs, filters, oil, oil for both diffs and gearbox, PS fluid and Brake fluid.

Minor service is an oil change and air filters.

"SydneySE" pulled his own engine in an underground car park!

I can't change a light bulb, never mind know where plugs and oil go!

I second this Sandy, (not that I'm knocking my e-gear I might add !), but try & find a Manual RHD 640 if you can? or better still, a RHD Manual 640 Roadster! I couldn't..and I was looking for over a year, so i had to settle for (sounds a bit pomp eek) a tatty e-gear Roadster, that's been stripped to the bone & had the full nut & bolt rebuild (you've seen it so no further explanation needed). I had to change my trousers for ones with deeper pockets throughout the process... but absolutely no regrets whatsoever. Its a keeper lick
