Citroen hit the back of the turning Renault, the wreck came over to our side, I initially went left hard on the brakes and realised she was still coming over to us, then I went right and narrowly missed the Golf.

My morning drive today, a van driver heading in the other direction stopped to tell me white van man was on his phone. Probably should set the correct date & time on the dash cam.

I couldn't see past the van, didn't see the car waiting to turn so didn't have much time to stop from 60mph after reacting and getting on the brakes.

Good job.

It should not only be legal to do so, but it should be compulsory that mobile phones are inserted abruptly into drivers anuses, before they are tied up and everyone at the scene of the accident (or in general) allowed to give them a good fking kicking.

I am tired of it.

It's not people being the phone that winds me up as much as people texting and facebooking.

I came very close to getting out and speaking with the young woman behind me last night who constantly sat with her head and eyes down in her lap texting while following me in traffic. When I calmed down without giving her a peice of my mind, I decided to put the handbrake on and wave her past me, I'd rather she be in front. As it turned out she took a side road and I was stress free again.

Nicely done. Hard to see on small screen but it doesn't look like he touched the brakes. That last moment swerve probably avoided it being a serious collision. KA's wheels are turned to the OS and the red Pug is just in front of it at the point of collision.

Perfect reason not to turn before the junction is clear! No thanks being pushed into a head-on collision in a Ford Ka.

This one's partly my own - my driving is st, so is hers! It's not clear in the video, but she's both pointing the car and looking down the left-hand lane of the DC when she sets off and, given how slowly she moves and how often it happens with others, I took to the inside of the roundabout to take the RH lane in the DC. Made the mistake of a quick mirror check for the LH lane as there was a boy racer in an Astra VXR up my trumpet that I thought might try and undertake and found her as a running roadblock!

hard to tell, but the Renault didn't look like it was incidcating
That was a great save. Your passenger is a cool customer too.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Bloody well sure the car did all the hard work with ABS and stability control. Mercedes Rock!
They say that in these moments; time slows down a bit, and I can remember that I talked myself through it by saying "however hard you are braking, with ABS you can still steer"
I shook the hand of the Golf driver too, it's not apparent in the video, but for a moment we were aiming for a head-on with him too after the first event, and he also steered away from it.
Everyone was ok, just shaken after the event.

Your lane discipline is not the best. If you had stuck to the left on the roundabout I doubt the Landy would have pulled out on you.

It's a single carriageway that I'm coming from which splits at the entry of that roundabout, it's usually really busy and queued up at that entry, so when it's clear it's a good opportunity to get on with it!

Lane discipline on the roundabout is poor, you allowed the LR to think he could move because you cut the roundabout. Lane cutting roundabouts is very poor technique.

Are you joking, it's terrible. And then he has the gall to come to a dead stop for ages on the roundabout to make a thing out it.

Superb driving.

I honestly cant believe how calm your passenger is. Still in the middle of a emergency stop. "you alright?" Brilliant.

So, can anyone tell me what I did wrong here - except the swearing.

It's a give way, I gave way, I waited till I could make it across the yellow box. I have no way to see the opposing traffic's lights, so have no idea they are about to go, then the floor it and try to attack me horns blaring. I'm lost.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsk_O6Sj-4w
Not the best road layout, I do see a turn right arrow on the floor, sure you can go straight ahead at that junction?

I'm guessing the drivers on your left saw a green light and automatically assumed you had jumped a red. Maybe they need reminding Green means go if clear not green means floor it and if you hit something its not your fault.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.5952208,-5.92352...

It's a right turn lane to go the way I went. I agree, bad layout. The give way should be a traffic light to avoid conflict in the yellow box. This morning some poor sod got stuck halfway into the box blocking one lane when everyone took off to get the next 30 feet to the next red light.
Something very wrong with those traffic lights. The left turn priority green arrow seems to have no purpose and should be normal green light. Next junction has traffic lights one side and give way the other. I'd be contacting the local authority about that.

Your fault imho. Switching lanes made it appear the LR had space to enter. Stopping like that in the middle of the road is a knob move.

I don't agree with that. He shouldn't have cut the roundabout, I agree. However, if it isn't 100% clear he's not turning right, then the range rover shouldn't have gone.

I agree with you, completely. I let myself get distracted and read her intentions incorrectly.

This is "st driving caught on cam" isn't it? Nobody said it always had to be everyone else's. tongue out

You would think the 2 big NO ENTRY signs would be a bit of a clue:

There's a car parked halfway down that street facing the wrong way so I'd guess it's common for people to ignore the one way instruction.

What does an indicator tell you?

The bulb is working.

Trust indication or lack of it at your peril.
The only excuse for that one is a failure of all 3? brake lights. The Citroen was tailgating. This is what happens to tailgaters.
I had one idiot tailgating me (for stopping for a red light off a roundabout!) in Bournemouth. I had a turning about 1/2 a mile later. So I just put my left foot down and coasted down to an appropriate speed to turn! But just because people can realize that they have somebody on their bumper and act accordingly, doesn't make tailgating any less dangerous and stupid. If a sudden hazard arises...
