I’d also like to take the opportunity to encourage any drivers who have witnessed any driving which causes them concern, or who have captured instances like this on dashcam to report it through the online form on the North Yorkshire Police website .Footage can be submitted directly to us via a file sharing service service such as WeTransfer or Dropbox – email OpSpartan@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk “Every report and piece of footage that is submitted is assessed by experienced traffic officers and as this case demonstrates, the relevant action will be taken.”

On the 26 January 2017, Hyland was driving his Vauxhall Insignia on the A19 towards Thirsk, when he undertook a dangerous overtake which saw him cross solid white lines and veer over to the other side of the road, passing stationary cars in the centre of the road which were waiting to turn.

Hmm, I didn't see a solid white line there. Quality reporting as always.

They'll immediately regret that. Every cock end with a dashcam will be sending every clip of someone shooting the gap on a roundabout etc that fill these videos of human error and complete non events.

If the police are going to do it right they need to make sure that every time DCW misuses their horn or doesn't react in a reasonable fashion that they too are prosecuted as warning that you can't drive around in an inconsiderate and unforgiving fashion just because Maplin have sold you a little camera.

In that particular instance, good. Terrible bit of driving.

All that for one dodgy overtake?

Appears to be well within the sentencing guidelines when convicted of dangerous driving ( https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/item... ) . I'd say it's a textbook example of "Incident(s) involving excessive speed or showing off, especially on busy roads or in built-up area;" .

I always think if your horse is not safe on the road beacuse it's scared of traffic then don't take it on the roads.
If my dog was scared of fireworks i wouldn't take it to a fireworks show.
Idiot biker/idiot (illegal ?) exhaust.....and you think the horse/rider is the problem ?
I am not saying the biker wasn't a idiot he was for revving, but this idea some horse riders have of thinking they can just jump on a horse that is dangerous on the road and then demand everyone around them to do as they say is just bullst.
I know - how dare they expect other drivers/riders to obey the Highway Code ? ( https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/road-... )

The horse was fine, until the biker revved like a muppet.
Ah the biker will obviously get his just reward, when he hits all the horse st left on the road.

Wouldn't it make sense for the bridge height warning sign to be very slightly lower than the bridge, not higher? Cheaper to replace the sign than repair the bridge...

I think the bit they're driving into is a warning sign. It's just that it's a sign placed on a big steel girder biggrin

eta:

see the yellow beam is attached to an a-frame a few feet ahead of the bridge?

But then the height warning sign might get damaged. As it is nothing connected with the bridge/overpass ever gets damaged and it just ruins the day for dozens of unsuspecting lorry drivers. The ones where the RV roof lights get smashed one by one are especially sad.

Usually, on my bike, I flick the kill switch and coast by horses when safe to do so, or if have to pull over to let them go by I turn off.

Seems a six of one half dozen of the other, provoking by a horse rider on a very nervous horse which should spend more times on quieter roads, but as much as I dislike horses and their riders lets be sensible as it takes fk all to spook a horse and if it bucks the rider off, least is some bruising the worst is death or being paralysed, simple case of don't be a dick really.
God yes, to all of this. Owning and enjoying a horse in the countryside (as legitimate a pastime as owning a fast/loud car or bike) is almost impossible to do without using smaller roads between bridalways.

I've met a very small minority of 'hoity-toity' horse owners (comes with the territory), but could you imagine if all car/bike enthusiasts were tarred by a small minority of antisocial/aggressive tts?

If stopping or coasting for up to a minute on the odd occasion is too much for you to bear without being angry, I'd suggest you stay indoors.

You'd think an earlier warning system of some chains hung at the right height might not be a bad idea. Like the barriers that they have at the Chunnel that get progressively more aggressive.
