M4cruiser, fair point but it's actually a farm entrance rather than a proper junction.

Localish yeah, near Harpenden.

I feel a bit stty about this one but I had the best intentions and if you pause it just as I cross the centre line it all looks fine. Just goes to show that there could always be a car *just* out of view and not to rely on luck, ever.

I did a similar thing on the A71 the other day. Wrong gear and really poor judgement of the approaching cars speed. I should dig the footage out and shame myself.

Off topic but for those that have GPS enabled cams i use a piece of software called RegistratorViewer (http://www.registratorviewer.com/index_en.html)

It's excellent, and it's free.

Recently read though that the guy who developed it was killed in a motorbike accidents so, tragically, no updates.

The impact of this is that google have changed their API it calls for the maps so the google maps don't work, the Bing maps still work though.

i nearly had a crash today with a copper, blind bend car, in front of the copper, had come to a stop in a very very stupid place, a NSL limit, so copper went round just as i turned the corner.

the green car on right was pulling to side indicating which i thought was odd, but didn't flash me, tt, luckily i slowed down a bit.

the black car was behind bush and stopped couldn't be seen.

stupid memory card died so no video

Oof, that is close. Bit silly from the copper, the biker was visible for ages before turning.

Was the biker supposed to be going left anyway?

I'd say - although you have to question the wisdom of doing 80mph into a bend marked with Chevrons.

80mph? It doesn't look anything near that to me. He says he was doing under 60 which I can well believe.

In the comments - he says the bike is an Apprilia RS125.

The dash on an RS125 has speeds numbers in increments of 20mph - with a red indicator at 50mph.

Here is a screen grab just as he starts to go into the bend - what speed would you say this is?

Even as he passes the police car - he's still doing in excess of 60.

Are you sure that's not km/h?

Looks more like a KPH dash which has the red line at 50kph so nowhere near 80mph since that's all it goes up to.

Rider says he was within the 60 limit for the road.

Yes, kph speedo. Not many 125's will have 200mph clocks?

He has posted another video for explanation. Says he was well within speed limit admits 50/50 blame probably just a bit exuberant rounding corner. Seems honest just a young rider.

The biker has a lot more visibility as he can see over the hedge. Police car has about 2 seconds from when the bike becomes visible,
to when they start to make the turn. Not really enough tbh. The biker needs to give people a bit more chance to see him in the interests of self-preservation imo. I don't think anyone is to blame as such, I just think the biker needs to allow other drivers a bit more margin for error.
