The "Sh*t Driving Caught On Cam" Thread Vol 3
Discussion
I had a close call earlier today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgLYlscERwU&fe...
From my point of view I could have taken the roundabout in a defensive fashion.
Nevertheless the Nissan X-trail made quite a silly decision.
Also note the weight shift on the silver golf when entering the roundabout.

I'd do exactly the same, far too many people might have some overzealous sense of queuing etiquette but my time is more valuable to me than upsetting some duffers who think you have to immediately stack all into one lane the moment you see a sign.Cneci said:

Tescos Ammanford - 99% of drivers not turning left there are going all the way around, so yes, Nissan driver a prat. From my point of view I could have taken the roundabout in a defensive fashion.

I think you did take the RA fine defensively, slow enough to avoid someone else's mistake, so what more do you need?

Yes, she is but this is now going to start another merge in turn / pushing in argument. It used to be a single lane for going straight on and people would use the right turn only to jump the queue
Now it's a merge and it seems people using the left lane still treat it as if those using the right are jumping the queue. They aren't but whatever.
I tend to use the left lane and be a couple of minutes slower because I can't be arsed with road warriors stopping you merging.

Because of the extra distance the LH lane has to travel it meant cars arrived at the correct distance for the merge point
Until some tt boots it and tries to block you out , 10 years on it still amazes me how many people only queue in the LH lane so they don't have to merge .

Good point, and noted.I think you did take the RA fine defensively, slow enough to avoid someone else's mistake, so what more do you need?
I just thought if I took the roundabout more slowly, then I wouldn't have got so close to the Nissan.
It's just me being fussy really.

We've had that one a while back, but still interesting... It's amazing how many people just keep on trying to squeeze past when the poor driver is trying to extricate himself from that tangle! Knobs.4x4Tyke said:
Think we had that a while back, what annoyed me about it is the impatient div in the gold car. They've seen the lorry trying to straighten back up, yet still have to pull up alongside it. They could see what was going on before they even joined the roundabout (cutting it a bit fine with the white van also in doing so).Vipers said:

Nothing wrong with that at all...Exactly the same, twice a day, on the M4 Westbound from the Coldra (Celtic Manor) roundabout to the Bryngals Tunnels .... except lanes 2 and 3 are full of the brain dead queuing in stop / start traffic ...
But it's great as lane 1 keeps flowing and you can merge about 600 yds before the tunnels... typically save between 10-20 minutes by "keeping left"...

Its getting so bad now, with merge in turn blockers/how dare you push in retards, that I think the only way to deal with it is a big media campaign to explain things to these simpletons and, that shock/horror its actually THEM that are driving without due care and attention and trying there best to cause accidents/road rage.
They'll probably still do it, though
I find the vast majority of people in the UK are tolerant of all but the most blatant pushing in. I guess the run up to the merge in turn would more likely that not to show why she was upset. They'll probably still do it, though
Try going on the M25 every morning at somewhere like the A2 turnoff. Every morning there will be three lanes trying to merge in turn. The obvious lane to turn west, the roundabout lane where people will also try to merge in turn east and then the slow lane of the motorway where people will just drive right up to the turn off itself put their left hand indicator on and stop all the traffic In the slow lane while someone allows them to merge in turn across three lanes. All to save the half mile long queue that develops.
Its that mentality that is part of most merge in turn you see on the road, and that mentality that needs education.
To know where the woman in the video was right or wrong to do what she did you would need a view backwards.

No you wouldn't, I drive through there every day, it's a very well signposted merge in turn:You can see the BMW ahead has let someone in, but she has refused, thus not merging in turn.

Nothing wrong with that at all...For the last few years there's ridiculous traffic from time to time towards Chard on the A358 off M5 J25, the queue on the inside lane is often 1-2 miles long and people mindlessly join it. Happened last week again, I just pass them all and turn off last second onto the two entirely clear westbound sliproad lanes for Taunton...
There's two lanes under the mway for A358 E coming out of Taunton going in to a merge, as the middle of the sliproad is westbound only, you could quite easily come down the outside off the M5 and take a trip around the junction...
The inside lane along Bath Rd going back into Bristol off the ring road is another I used to do.

I think the wording "Zip Merge" makes more sense than "Merge in turn" because some drivers (incl. me!) think of "turn" as a turn in the road.
FFS and you've got a driving licence???Classic example of what's wrong with drivers in the UK...lack of common sense or lack or intelligence... take your pick...
