The viper acr beat all the other track records because it used stickier tyres and has ALOT more aero than the others.
It's basically a street car with GT3 aero, but without the rules.

All of these cars use lots of aero GT3 RS Z06 918 etc as for the tyres all the car makers will use the stickiest Michellen or equivalent Pirelli Bridgestone etc to set their time with, the Viper is genuinely quick around a race track.

No but they like to forget that one/not count it as some don't consider it a true road car.

It generates up to 800kg of downforce, 545kg @250km/h

The latest 911 GT3 RS can only generate up to 320kg @300km/h
Numbers for the 918 and Z06 are not available, altough they claim the 918 always makes more than 135kg, that's a far way off 800kg's.

It also has 295 wide tryes up front and 355 wide khumo's in the rear. The 918 has 245 wide front and 325wide rear special made cup 2s.

The viper just has an incredible grip advantage for a 'normal' car (ie. not a million dollar hypercar or Radical)

They've raised $42,100 from 81 donors... On average each supporter has pledged over $500 a pop. Money to burn.

No, about as relevant as every other ring attempt. Sticky tyres, aero, optimised suspension. Just like a production car on the road!

It is a Production car on the road?
There was even one in Virginia Water recently smile The cars that they want to take to the ring are off the forecourt of a car dealership.

All those cars in that Video were also production cars? So I'm at a loss to what you mean?

My point is that if it's setup for the fastest ring time it'll be pretty horrible everywhere else. Not sure about you but I don't get a chance to use much aero on the school run, except for the minty kind wink

Well You're obviously using your car wrong, Rear wings are great for Cupcakes and Busquits and Cups of tea and coffee when stationary, Rear exit exhaust pipes are also good to keep the champagne bottles in the shade (when not in use) biggrin

I see on the donation page a Belgium owner has volunteered to use his own car. Surely makes more sense than shipping two cars from the States!
The guy in Belgium is Sulaiman Rochemont, he is a mate of mine and also owns this!

Why on earth would any members of the public give up their hard earned cash so these people can have some fun with their money is beyond me. If you all want to do it then great go and get sponsorship the old fashioned way. Don't ask for crowd funding. fking ridiculous to me.

I'd like a DB7 shall I set up crowd funding

Well there are a whole bunch of us that are passionate about the Viper brand and would like to see if we can get one last crack at the ring record. The Naturally aspirated V10 Viper production comes to an end this year and FCA are not interested in shedding out funds to see the car attempt. Think it might be different we were talking about Ferrari!

Anyone can set up a Go fund me account so best of luck mate with your quest to own an Aston thumbup
