But... Not many cars come with a spare of any description now. My previous TTS only had what was on the road plus the canister of moose which was supposed to save the day... same with my current chariot.
Does the S4 Avant come with a spare as standard?
The S5 Sportback does (as I looked at the dealer the other day) so I would presume the S4 does.
Are you sure? Pretty sure my mates S5 cab doesn't....
Yes they do. Standard space saver.

If your mate has an S5 cab it is very very likely to be the old model (since the new one isn't even in showrooms yet) and it is a cabriolet (not a sportback which has a far larger boot than a cab). I looked in the boot and I saw a spacesaver, I made a point of checking.

Think i'll be sticking with my B8.5 S4, especially with the road tax going up to £800 a year!!

Apologies, still far too much for basically the same car. I'd love to try a remapped Supercharged S4 though!

Basically the same car is a bit harsh on the new one, the interior is way better on the new one at least!

I would say if looking at the finances between a B8.5 and a B9, the new VED pales into insignificance given the cost differential of the two in terms of depreciation. It would be interesting to see if some of these cars with ridiculous RRPs and massive discounts (such as this car, the BMWs etc) get brought down in price to get under the £40k mark. Worst thing is that the £310 "rich guy" tax doesn't get anyone who only keeps their car a year, only gets the people who keep them two years once. But the person who may not be able to afford the new car who buys a nice car at two years old and keeps a while may end up with 4 lots before the car turns 6 and is no longer eligible for it! I.E the ones who can best afford (or are most willing to) the high cost of a new car aren't necessarily the ones getting taxed the most for having a car with a high RRP. Just seems absurd.
