Very similar to me SWoll albeit mine (well I mean the instructors) a bit older. Not the actual car mind you.Instructor smoked like a chimney so passenger door card was covered in ash as he would smoke while on lessons

My first car, a 1987 Suzuki Swift 1.3 GS which was the warm hatch below the GTi version. A whopping 78bhp model! It was light, hit 60 in around 10 seconds which was good back in 1992 and was a really good fun little machine. Unlike the GTi which my brother had, it had skinny wheels, normal breaks and suspension so was quite lively. I was the envy of the college car park as I had 5 forward gears, a sun roof and a rev counter.

D-reg Metro HLE. Utterly awful car - the instructor had a huge driving school placard on the roof facing the direction of travel (so mounted across the car). With this fitted it resolutely refused to top 60mph, removed it would wheeze up to 80. Thinking back maybe it was a safety feature... On the plus side it was virtually unstallable so maneouvering during the test was a breeze, it was only when I started to drive "real" cars (mum had a new Mk3 XR3i at the time which, until I destroyed it, felt like a rocket ship in comparison) did I find out about clutches that weren´t knackered.
I swore I would never drive a Metro again. And I never did.
Unless I ever get the opportunity to have a go in a 6R4 of course.
