With options I expect £60k.....serious money - I think I will have the Alfa Quad instead.
It doesn't seem to make much sense to say the Audi is a £60k car because you'd spend 5 figures on options so you'd have a car with a base-price of £60k instead. I'd like to see a saloon in the same spec as the grey Sportback pictured in the article. I suspect that colour and those wheels on the saloon would make it look a bit more 'the part', so to speak.
Having had the S3 saloon, I must say that I never really thought, "This needs another 100hp". Will be interesting to take this for a test drive and see what it's like for myself.

Whilst EPAS systems rarely present any significant level of feedback, they do vary significantly in terms of the consistency of their weighting. I'm not a fan of any EPAS system I've tried, but some are considerably worse than others.
I've come to the M140i from a snotter mk1 Focus which threw it into sharper relief, I think. The Focus had really nice steering (and dynamics generally), despite its advancing years and miles. I'm thoroughly enjoying the BMW, but found it quite telling that despite this and a £500 Focus not really bearing comparison in any way (price, age, performance, mileage, condition etc etc), and the BMW being a vastly better car in almost every way, there is one thing that the old car does so much better, and that you notice within 100 yds of driving the newer one.
The difference noted above is significantly greater than I noticed going from an F30 3-series to a B8 A4, for example. Although I accept they do vary, I still think EPAS is generally a bit rubbish for feel and connection to the road, and Audi's isn't much worse than BMW's (who don't get panned for it constantly).

Great cars but it has a big image problem (hatchback variety especially) means I will always hate them.
In my opinion those that are obsessed by 'image' are those that are themselves more concerned about it than the substance of whether a car is any good or not. That's more boring than anything else. Self obsession about what others think of them!If you like something, then who cares about the 'image'.

I'm more surprised that nobody's come out with the usual wibble about being able to get a five year old R8 for the same money yet...!

That green is an awesome colour. Audi do some amazing options, just a shame most go for resale grey - Riviera Blue is my favourite on the sedan, have contemplated wrapping mine several times;
Disappointing to hear that the steering is still woefully light. It (and the wet fart exhaust note of the EA888) are the biggest pet hates of mine. Be interesting to see if this has the same 'rear end bounce' going over speed bumps at low speeds. Really quite horrible in the S3.
It isn't "resale grey" as Nardo is a RS only colour thus you don't see too many in THAT grey. There is no "rear end bounce" on the current one so I doubt they will have engineered it in on the facelift. Disappointing to hear that the steering is still woefully light. Wow, 5 posts before the haters emerge.....Audi must be getting better
if they had made it look like the concept my deposit would have been down 2 years agobut I will if they ever make the car look like an RS and not a stock oil burner, in an instant
I like the new RS3 but at £47k things are getting a bit out if hand IMO unless it's going to have big discounts. I suppose the sportback will be cheaper as it is in the S3. But at that price it is competing directly with the S5 sportback which although maybe not as dynamic or fast it is still fast enough and is more practical and arguably better looking. Having said that I am waiting for a lease S5 and if I could have had one of these for the same money at the same time I would probably have taken it just for the engine.

I agree, it's a shame most of them are the exclusive colours that generally aren't viable when thinking resale value or lease. There would be a lot of nicer looking ones out there if they were the same price as the normal metallic/pearl coloursGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
