In the early 70s, my folks, free of kids at last, went out to buy a car just for them. They'd narrowed the choice down to an Alfa much like this, or a Lancia Fulvia Coupe. They came back with an MGB GT.
It did last them an inordinately long time though. I was just hoping they'd buy something a bit more exotic. For them.

Any more pictures of your mum from back then?
We had a “restored” 1972 Giulia 2000 GTV ca. 1990 and it started rusting again along the sills pretty much straightaway! Lovely car though.

I've had my sills done twice in the last 18 years on my GTV but then I do drive it throughout the year in all weathers.

Well I kind of like that, like a baby Mondeo. I do find it odd when manufacturers do these random models in random countries, but I love that they do it. Like it was some local engineers pet project that was given the green light after nagging so much to do it lol!Evil.soup said:

I wish my Dad had thought the same! In 1972 he bought a J plate Fiat 125 but there was a J plate 1750 GTV next to it up for the same price.
While I loved the Fiat (it became my 2nd car in 1977) I'd have loved the Alfa a whole lot more!

That 6 Series is lovely, just reinforces my thoughts that nearly all modern cars are fat bloated over weight and over teched.
I bet that's smaller than a current 4 Series.
The bodykit, whilst very eighties, does it few favours today, IMO.I bet that's smaller than a current 4 Series.
I'd rather not have the body kit, not least because of clearance issues but that car, with a leather interior, was my dream car in the eighties when I had my e28 525e. Multiple trips to the south of France over a decade in it - ticking over at 80mph while returning mid thirties mpg! Our 10yr old daughter was in tears watching its 3rd owner driving it away.
