DickyC,
Thank you, and finally after 18 years of ownership, a driveable, enjoyable ride.

Every time I see your Pantera it makes me smile. Excellent car and a great photo.

During an organized drive on Father's Day, two Sundays ago in Los Angeles, the mobile camera crew for the organizer caught this image of my Pantera on the freeway. I think it's quite a nice shot.
“Quite a nice shot” - it’s more than quite nice in my eyes!

Don't look anywhere near it. Pantera's ran big balloons on something like 14"s or 15"s, like all others of that era.

Lord Benny and Havoc,
When I bought the car about 18+ years ago, I wanted to upgrade the brakes and in doing so the new calipers wouldn't fit under the stock 15" Campagnolos. So, at the time, the clones were 17" diameter wheels and that's what I went with. It also gave you a little more choice of tires as only Pirelli sometimes makes the original 15" ultra wide tires, and only on a very limited basis. The rear tires on my car are 335's, positively enormous.

smithyithy,
That is the image straight from the Malibu Autobahn Father's Day Run photo recap webpage. So, I don't know what resolution it was taken at or if it was massaged. One of these days, I'll have the car professionally photographed in a photoshoot.

generationx,
Thanks for the compliements. Anytime you make your way to Southern California, you're welcome to take her out for a day or two. She's old school, but thrilling nevertheless.. I'll have her gassed up and ready to go. Just send me a message.

A labour of love.

smile

In 1975 I was pumping petrol and the word went round that the owner of the garage had traded his Silver Shadow for a sportscar and it was a bit special.
"What is it," I asked.
"A Deeter Martin."

The De Tomaso Pantera has had a special place in my affections ever since.

Looks like it was drawn by a seven-year-old.

Good spot although the date suggest it was taken in April 7 years ago.

Pretty rare I think. A C124 AMG bodykitted bornite bit of loveliness...

I own one of these, but a convertible and in Azurite Green. Original from the factory with the AMG II kit, but the lowered suspension, AMG I ducktail and 19 inch wheels were the last owner's idea, and are horrid both for looks and ride. Going back to original 17s, which I have, and correct suspension height. Also needs a new hood and retrim for the front seats.

Lovely old boat though and really quite nice looking. As someone later in the thread remarked - this would have been pretty vulgar in the mod 90's, but today I rather enjoy it's drug-dealer chic...

Fair 'nuff.

Originality is great for investors, but if you're a keen driver, sometimes it gets in the way...

I couldn't agree more, sometimes you see a car that just seems to be about as spot as it could get.
