RE: Skoda Superb Estate 280: PH Fleet

Estates with roof boxes do look cooler as well, don't they?
Not to me, they don't. Just awkward and un-aerodynamic. I understand the need for an occasional bit of extra capacity, but I wouldn't leave a roof box on a car if I didn't need the space.PH has a bit of an obsession with strapping stuff to the roof of its press fleet cars. You did the same with the 435i coupe a while back as well as that lovely F-type S.

Nice Skoda, though

I thought the PH fleet included a Duster for such jobs?
Nope, whilst the Duster is handy (and remains MIGHTY), it is nowhere near big enough for carrying the event equipment. (about 400l less luggage capacity and it is not long enough to fit out event awning in, so we'd have to drive with the boot open!)As I say though, it is so MIGHTY that we'll forgive it for not being very big.

Superb 280 looks like a great car if you can find a suitable lease deal. Not sure I'd fancy the depreciation on actually owning one of those.
Not wanting to turn this into one of those lease Vs owning threads, I thought it was generally accepted that what someone pays over the lease period works out to about same as the depreciation an owner suffers over the same period? You could follow my example and take it to stage 3 for a nice 540ps (soon to be closer to 600ps)

Discounts aren't huge, I was looking at going for one instead of the Cupra 300'but the discounts were surprisingly a bit st.
Did you read my post mate? I went through coast2coast - specced to 37k, offer of 30k. That's what, 21/22% discount? That was on a L&K with bigger wheels and metallic.
I'll check coast2coast

These really are fantastic VFM though they can get pricey if you decide to go for the 190hp engine with the DSG box with just a few extras. You can pretty much double the price of a boggo 150hp diesel manual of the same model!
i fail to see how 40k for a skoda is fantastic VFMDave Hedgehog said:

Well, can you point out all the other spacious, well-equipped, reliable estates that do 0-60 in less than 6 seconds, can tow 2 tonnes and cost less than £40k? Oh, and you can get £6 or 7K of list price, so they don't cost £40K anyway...Drive The Deal quote £35k on the nose for this exact spec car, so, having used them before and knowing how competitive they are, is like to know how Coast2Coast getting another £5k off the list price?
(I used their configuratot and got a quote of £32,579 which is still £2.5k cheaper but shows what's available!)
Great car btw, and to me a better choice than a Golf R estate; after all, a superb does look superb as an aside, whereas a Golf R...doesn't.
