Tell me i'm wrong, but I think the new Discovery is incredibly ugly, reminds me of an old Ssangyong! Its mainly the rear that offends me, with its awkward ride height/proportions, nasty plastic bumpers and that offset number plate.

The Disco 4 looked fantastic but this is just goping! frown

I didn't like it from pictures but having seen it in the flesh, I like it!

A very awkward, lopsided car, very strange

Bloody awful, JLR ought to be ashamed of themselves for this. Way to ruin an icon.

The rear lights should have been stacked vertically like discos of yore, that was one of the styling trademarks that set it apart from the other models. Then that offset number plate could be further over and it wouldn't look as odd.

i think they always have been ugly
that is sort of the point of them, they are the range rover's ugly sister

Henno - they are just trying to make every car a larger Evoque. When the whole point of the Evoque was a baby RR. Anyway, I hope the FFRR keeps it's pretty unique and classy styling for the next gen and doesn't lose the plot. The new Velar doesn't look too bad though..

The Discovery and Discovery Sport both look pretty bad to my eye. Im sure they are great cars but the designs are all over the place. I'd rather have a Q5/Macan/Kuga/Q3

Another new model? Thought the old one was still new.

Anyway, isn't it time they gave up the offset number plate by now? Pointless.

Also, it's weirdly long at the back

Sadly it's what happens now, all cars have the same design and company face.

It's not ugly.

It's absolutely, honkingly fugly with a capital F.

It looks bad in pics but in real life it is far worse. A real own goal.

No, the Discovery 4 was ancient (it was just a heavily facelifted Discovery 3).

I very much like the Discovery Sport, but I'm not sold on this new Discovery yet. A shame, as I think the rest of the LR range is stunning. I suspect it'll grow on me.

Everything after the c pillar looks like an after thought. Whilst I presume the offset number plate is a nod to the previous gens design language, it looks wrong with a rectangular rather than square plate. Having seen a number on the road I would say the facelift should see it centralised like the disco sport

I've seen a few of these on the road now and I disagree OP; I think they're great looking cars, although they do appear absolutely massive.
