Hi all!

First time I've posted here. I've got a mileage accumulator car from work (free fuel to put on as many miles on as possible) next weekend. We've planned to meet friends in the Lancashire area and stay at theirs in Preston. To make the most of the free fuel; I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of Pubs/restaurants with ample private parking (stipulation of use) around the Lancashire area. Roughly around Preston within 30 miles. Ideally out of a town centre, but not a huge issue if not. Not a massive restriction on budget or style, although I'm a tad simple on tastes so would be very happy with excellent pub food.

Hope it's not too general a question, used to be a student at UCLAN, but never really explored the eateries of the North West beyond Kebab Shops!

Thanks in advance.

For Sunday lunch try Northcote. Its close to Preston. You might struggle to get a table at short notice but worth a call.

If you don't fancy something that formal they have a few pubs too - but Northcote Manor is the best of the lot.

This is the only pub (for food) I would recommend north of the M65: https://fencegate.co.uk/

I don't get out much though!

...and Monday night is sausage night!

Royal oak at Riley green, spread eagle at mellor, clog and billy cock in Blackburn or hand and dagger near salwick.

It's Easter weekend you'll have to book and forget about Northcotes it'll be booked up and it's pretentious over priced and full of bellends anyway

The Inn at Whitewell

The Bay Horse Inn

Any of the Ribble Valley Inns

You would probably want to book anywhere decent given the weekend.

All of the above recommendations are great. There's also the Freemason's at Wiswell - fantastic food but a bit pricey mind....

Haven't been to The Fence Gate for while but service can be very slow and ALWAYS check the bill, they invariably get it wrong. We've given up going there now. However, the food is generally very good.

I haven't been, but it's on my list and my auntie swears by it, and that's The Inn at Whitewell. http://www.innatwhitewell.com/

Yes, that is a very good meal too, went for a 60th there - I wasn't paying! Be prepared to roll up one trouser leg and wear a pinny though.

Haighton Manor just outside Preston, near Grimsargh and the M6 / M55 junction.

Great food, recently refurbished and proper "old country" feel with log fires, big comfy chairs and a well stocked bar.

We are going on Saturday for a meal.

Service can be slow at the Fence Gate. Inn at Whitewell good shout too.

I'm not a fan of the Clog and Billycock, been a few times as the neice likes it, much prefer Fence Gate.

The Spread Eagle at Sawley (just past Clitheroe)?

Haven't been for a while, but it was very good last time. Nice location as well.

I'm not sure if that is one of theirs. The Ribble Valley Inns chain is owned by Nigel Haworth from Northcote Manor. Generally good quality and reasonable prices.

Quite a few good places to eat in Lancashire or surrounding area - current favourite is Bistro Verities in Birkdale for something that is rustic but bloody nice without having to remortgage. Quite a drive for you though

Some great recommendations. Have frequented here a few times, food portions are huge but quality high and service tip top: http://www.greencrabpubs.co.uk/details3
