You are supposed to sound the horn to alert other road users of your presence. I would argue that this was the correct thing to do in this situation, as if the Morgan driver had been paying attention, he would have heard it and made an effort to avoid the collision.
Instead, he tried to accelerate up to the national speed limit in a very short distance and ruined somebody else's day as a result. All because he wanted to impress a small group of strangers who like to spend their spare time stood in a lay-by.

The 206 hit the Morgan 1 second after it passed the traffic island at the point the 206 was already in the verge trying to avoid the Morgan coming from the right

What are you smoking?
That photo is almost exactly 1 second before impact. Perhaps you're looking at the streetview images, which are historical and don't have the new island and single lane?
