A lot of talk about "90k for a 4 series"

M4 CS vs 22B vs Rolex vs a 1 bed flat lol

I think its as over priced as any other car Pistoneheads had a article about since 2006
hahaha

the thing is that you can't compare a 22B really as it wasn't overpriced as a new RRP
I think the 2 most overpriced cars since 2006 have probably been the M4 CS and the m4 gts
You are also totally wrong in regards to the 22B

The 22B was massively over priced when new, and the mags complained as much at the time and said the P1 was better driving for about half the money

The 22B was 40k in 1998 - inflation adjusted thats 67K in todays money

Could you imagine if Subaru brought out a 67k Impreza today? It would make the massively over priced M4 CS look like the bargain of the century!

So an E46 CSL would be around 87k inflation adjusted

That can't be right they take standard bits off & now charge you extra, if that's true then BMW have got some minerals.
Porsche have been doing that with great success for years.
I know but I'm just surprised BMW are trying it.

To me this is BMW saying that they would like a slice of the speculators profit. It's clearly a circa £70k car, but people would flip them immediately for £90k so why not pitch it at that price in the first place...makes sense to me

BMW's design is just so much more integrated and singular than the mess going on up the road at Merc. Looks purposefully aggressive.

280BHP for the B5 Quattro with its 2.7 twin turbo looks a bit limp. Progress, have to love it.

So the line up looks like this ( can someone fill in the prices)

M4
M4 CP
M4 CS
M4 DTM
M4 GTS

Wow..... So much for

M3
M3 CS
M3 CSL

I guess they are beating their heads against the Mercedes C63 S AMG coupe.

So is their logic that you can get a Competition Pack car for ~£5k more?

Therefore bigger differentiation for the CS required?

Oh and I prefer the M4CP wheels:

Good god those are some of the worst looking wheels I've ever seen!!

The problem i have the the M4, is, the M3!

It's just a better looking car, as the rear doors and hence the higher rear roof line give the car a more pleasing overall stance, especially in the way it highlights the rear wheel arch flares and how they sit around the tyres:

The previous gen was

M3
M3 CP
M3 CRT
M3 GTS

The DTM/GTS/CSL/CRT all limited to X number of cars, in terms of standard production cars (excluding the trim level special editions) it's been a choice between 2 or 3 models for the e46/e92/F82.

Not sure what that tells us though?

I agree.
More practical and better looks/proportions.

M4's just look sooooo big on the road for a 2-door coupe.

I have a deposit down on this and will be pulling the plug on it. Totally underwhelming spec and the price is nuts. As has been mentioned, you're in 991.2 GTS money at that, and I know what I'd rather be in.

£89K is seriously overpriced and am not sure why BMW felt the need to up the power, CS spec should be about sensible chassis mods with a few cosmetic bits - but then my interlagos blue E46 CS is enough for me - M4 CS should help raise the value of mine :-)

For me, your car sounds like the BMW I would have. I've lost interest in BMW since the e39 M5 and e46 M3. These cars were special but attainable. Few normal people can aspire to own an M3 these days, let alone the crazy price of this one. New car prices these days are ridiculous.

This is the answer to Giulia Quadrifoglio. Missed on price though. I'd still prefer Giulia.

Agreed, the price of this CS is beyond silly but I'm sure BMW UK will sell their allocation regardless

I'd prefer an M3 Saloon - something like this:

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Great colour, then just get it remapped by Birds or ACS or someone to give it around 500 with a 3 year warranty. Job done for half the money

+1. Not sure I'd want to pay ~£80k for the M2!
