Difficulty switching off outside of work...
Discussion
Anyone else suffer from this? I find it hard to stop thinking about decisions I've made / interactions with colleagues and often end up re running things in my head over and over. On a bad day (fortunately not often) this can have a severe impact on my mood. I hold a management position in a large financial services org, running a team of 12.
Wondering if anyone has tips to share on letting it all go when you walk out the door? Besides getting blind drunk!!

After having this for several months.. I bought a 1000 piece puzzle..!
It's something that you must submerge yourself in, otherwise you'll get nowhere.
It's also cheap and easily turned on and off.
I forgot no after doing a few over a couple of months, that I could switch off a lot easier.
There are plenty in the Charity shops or specific interest ones on Amazon won't break the bank. What harm can it do.?

Gym for me too, and by the time I'm finished my head is clear of any work issues. While not for everyone, I go to Crossfit classes and one thing I think really helps switch off is the fact that someonelse has planned out what we're doing, so it's just a case of pitching up and do as your told.
Some good ideas here... I should probably goto the gym more. Immersion is definitely true. I have a bunch of hobbies (like gardening etc) but
I still do often find I'm going over things again (for instance this morning I woke up thinking about it!)
Maybe I need to get in the finance forum and concentrate on my FIRE date

YES! Only during bad times though. Heard its like PTSD (Where you don't necessarily think about 'what bad things happened' rather 'What could I have done' or 'What will I do') etc.Wondering if anyone has tips to share on letting it all go when you walk out the door? Besides getting blind drunk!!
I am more assertive these days and have learned, for want of a better term to not 'give a f***' - but during certain situations I still worry after work
Do you commute ? I found I was bringing some of the work stresses home with me so I chose a place on my journey where I consciously started to think about home v work. It was about 3/4 the way home, so it gave me 45 mins to process what happened in the day, 15 mins to get in a good mood for home. Do this for a month and make it a habit.
That and video games aswell......

Death defiance.
I found riding big bikes flat out on the public highway tremendously focusing, Never once did I find myself tankslapping towards an unforgiving cluster of trees on a ZX6R after riding over a cat's eye whilst exiting a 120mph bend at eleven tenths and find myself worrying about how my last project would stand up to the scrutiny of an in depth audit.
Need a rest? Want three months off? Crash. The class A pain relief the doctors fill your veins up with will take your mind of all that work nonsense.
