In reference to making a good impression for someone you would like to jump into bed with before getting bogged down with mortgage payments etc.

I think this must rank highly

especially with a picnic hamper from Aldi, er, Harrods, in the back seat.

I met a chap recently who's partner drives either an XJS or V8 Range Rover P38A and smokes cigars. I was smitten.

The brains to realise that a fancy car is either a social crutch or a personality substitute.

Chicks love these things for some reason. I seem to recall it coming top of some poll a few years ago for what car women would be most impressed by a man driving. That said, my Mk1 MX5's have always had lots of waves and smiles from the fairer sex (and a few waves from blokes too!). I can very much confirm that a 200SX with large exhaust and dump valve does not get much female attention.

Does anyone really think that any car will make you more attractive to the opposite sex?

Great wealth on the other hand - well proven track record.

So when I bought my Maserati GranTurismo I Iost my personality/needed a social crutch, I sold it to fund a new business and now drive a Fiat 500X does that mean I have regained my personality/no longer need a social crutch? wobble
I guess you have never owned a fancy car.

A car can be a great indicator of wealth can it not? A gold digger will recognise a nice car, nice watch, designer clothing etc etc

For the ladies?

A supercar?No, too arrogant/brash
A 'family saloon'? No, too dull - wouldn't know what it is and it doesn't have the right badge!

Any newish Audi, preferably a Q or a Range Rover Evoque!

A very unreliable indicator.
