S Club Barn Farm Camping Weekend 2017

Barn Farm Camping 2017 - The last weekend of June - Fri 23rd to Sun 25th
OK all you S Club peeps, here we go again!
Following the successful first five dummy runs, here are the details for the Sixth edition of our fun weekend based at Barn Farm Camping, Birchover, Derbyshire DE4 2BL
http://www.barnfarmcamping.com
I have confirmed with Barn Farm that our usual spot will be available and have reserved it exclusively for S Clubbers.
Itinerary :- Arrive from noon onwards on Fri 23rd June to set up.
Book in at reception, pay on arrival, £8.50 per person per night last year, ( this year tbc, may be a min charge of £9.50 per tent ). Whatever . Anyway, tell them you're with the TVR Club & they will tell you where to go.
Last time for meal orders at the Red Lion 8pm. Best to book with them in advance. Opportunity to sample one or two fine cask ales ( or white wine for the ladies ).
https://www.red-lion-birchover.co.uk/home/
Hosts Matteo & Alyson delight in serving honest cooked traditional fayre or delicious Sardinian cuisine.
Scenic Run-out Sat 24th June. Starting 10:45 am from Barn Farm, 11:00 prompt at the Druid Inn Car Park. Lunch at the Ladybower Inn at 13:15 ish.
After lunch, another 30 - 40min drive to complete the run.
Evening is free to cook dinner at the campsite ( Yeah right! ) or repair once more to the Red Lion for Snake & Nail Pie & chips or similar, then we have a post-run analysis, snail racing & maybe just one more pint of Matteo's best
Again, best to book for your meals in advance. Mention that you are with the TVR Car Club group.
The Druid Inn just down the road also serve meals ( if the Red Lion is fully booked ). But we haven't sampled the food there, only the beer, which did well in our consumer test, eh Andy?
Sun 25th June: Pack up & bid fond farewells to the lovely people whose company you've enjoyed throughout the weekend. Or explore the splendid local countyside a little more. Cromford is fascinating, and there's a nice place called the Pack Horse in Crowdecote that does good food. ( pre booking essential ) The road to it is our very own Peak District alpine twisty. Care needed!
A couple of points to mention, please ensure you arrive fuelled up ready for the Sat run, its about 90 miles with scant opportunity to stop for petrol en route.
Do not try to approach Birchover from the south via Birchover Lane, it really is unsuitable for motor vehicles. Continue north on the B5056 for approx 1/2 a mile, turn right, you will see the campsite signposted.
It is at the top end of the village on the right, be careful over the speed bumps.
Please keep the noise down after 10:30pm, definitely NO number11's along Birchover High Street ( and no number 1's or 2's for that matter ! )
If we behave ourselves, they may just let us do it again next year.
The route will be the same as previous years, the new route we had planned will have to wait for next year, as we've had no time to do a full recce.
Andy ( Lynch ) has the route ( thanks Andy ) & satnav files ( thanks Han ) which he can email to those who request them.
I'm putting a cap on numbers of 25 peeps maximum on the Saturday lunch at the Ladybower as they can't cater for more than that in one fell swoop. First booked on my list, first served. Alternatives are the Snake Pass Inn ( just reopened ) or some pubs down the road in Bamford.
Note that the route for the run may be subject to detours if any of the villages on the route are staging well-dressing weekends and carnivals.
I undertake to check them out beforehand.
See you on the weekend!
Cheers

Glen,
Can't do this year as I will be providing back up to Mrs T that weekend, hopefully in Stirling.
Say hello to the peacocks for me.
The peacocks say "Hello Ray"!Can't do this year as I will be providing back up to Mrs T that weekend, hopefully in Stirling.

Please tell Mrs. T. ( Alison, not the other Iron Lady ) that we wish her very good fortune in her charity walk from John o' Groats to Lands End. Fair weather and fewest possible blisters!
If you can post a link to her chosen charites, it would be good if we could raise a contribution via SCH this year.
It would also be great if the TVR community could follow her progress and cheer her on at various stages.
Any chance of a blog?
I've delayed our holiday especially to make the run on Saturday!!
Not really, I got me dates mixed up and we're heading off on the Sunday.
I will now be attending hut solo as apparently MeLuch is out with the girls on the Saturday.
See you all there if not before.

Thanks Ray.
We all wish Alison the very best of luck, good fortune, fair weather and a following wind for the whole walk.
We shall raise all we can for her chosen charities at SCH this year.
It would be good if S Clubbers follow her blog and give their support and encouragement as she passes through their individual regions.
What a lady!
