My Sainsburys Energy tariff expires at the end of next month.

Currently my standing charge is around 26p a day, 9p kWh day rate and 7p kWh night rate for electricity.

Gas is 26p day and 3.9pkWh.

Their new tariffs all look the same to me;

26p a day and 17p day and 7p a night for electricity and about 4.5p for gas.

Anyone have any recommendations? I did a quick run through on uswitch and the best quotes were from companies I'd never heard (Flow, Bulb, etc)

I'm in the process of switching, electricity only. Best I could find was a British Gas 2 year fixed. Same rate as Sainsbury's current offer, and just a couple of quid a month more than suppliers that I've never heard of.

Flow dual fuel since last September - came up tops on the comparison sites for our annnual usage figures, and lots of positive reviews which actually sounded like they'd been written by genuine customers rather than by the best mates of the guy in charge, so although I'd never heard of them I decided to give them a try. Nice clear website for submitting your readings and keeping an eye on your account, and no issues to report so far.

I use the money saving expert energy club as a comparison tool which seems quite useful.

All I would say it's don't move for price only. I am currently in the 5th month of my disputes with First Utility.
Customer service is non existent

First utility just offered to fix my tariff for 3 years at almost bang on what my current tarrif is, and will put me onto a lower tariff free of charge if prices go down.

Although I echo above, their customer service isn't the best, although it is UK based which helps.

Irritated to see that Scottish Power had a tariff earlier this month which would have fixed my prices for roughly another 12 months. Now it's replaced with v3.

Is there a site or alert service which simply emails/alerts deals as they are released? I tried Voltz but it hasn't ever alerted me of anything, plus they all use some stupid comparison method where they assume you stay on the variable rate with the same provider after your promotional period expires confused

Well I've just signed up to Flow.

It's the best deal I can find although it's more expensive than my existing tariff;

Existing Electric: Standing Charge: 24.7p, Day Rate: 9.12p, Night Rate: 3.9p
Flow: Standing Charge: 22.5p, Day Rate: 13.5p, Night Rate: 7.5p

Existing Gas: Standing Charge: 26.1p, Unit Rate: 2.40p
Flow: Standing Charge: 14.3p, Unit Rate: 2.89p

Gas isn't that bad but I work from home so we use most energy in the day so that new rate is going to be a kick in the teeth frown

So we had a deal with a company who have been bought by a Scottish provider who operate in the South too, And we switched away.

Utter nightmare as Which and everyone else tell you. Charged double, and an absolute sod trying to get the money back.

It takes 21 days to switch so I'd get a shift on unless you want to be stuck on their standard tariff for 3 weeks

I've got the 3yr deal as I know where I'll be. Been with them for 3yrs and not had any issues. Provide a meter reading every month after they email me and the App they have let's you know what's what. I can't think of a reason why I'd need to call customer services.

So Energy came out best but it will cost me a extra £6 a month for them.

I went back to the energy saving club and again nothing beats my Sainsbury Energy Fixed Price July 2017 Ill look in a few weeks again I think and hope for the best
