You're the one that can't understand a question mark, not me.
Oh, hang on a minute... lets just check who said what...

The answer required yes or no, not another of its implications! If you look through its posting history it never answers any question with a straight answer.
Oh, give it up. He pointed out that your comparison was ridiculous, and rather than just accept it, you deflected by trying to imply he was admitting to racing on the road. Then when he makes it clear that he never made anything like that sort of suggestion, you go off on one about grammar, and question marks and "intellectualism".

You're coming across as a childish, obstinate fool. Grow up.

Maybe time to call an end to this thread now? It does appear to just be petty points scoring at this point.

It seems a simple matter of common sense. I found myself today behind some poor wheezing sod cycling up a hill on a single lane road, in the middle of nowhere, with a tailback behind him, and a completely empty wide pavement.

The law says he can ride on the road. Reality suggests many motorists were taking a risk because all that happened was they were pissed off and took risks to floor it and get past in the gaps in anything coming the other way.

Same with the two-abreast mob, whatever the law says it seems common sense that you're more likely to get knocked off your bike if you ride two-abreast so you can talk to your mate.
This in spades.

I'm no lover of the plod however common sense fail on part of cyclists and generally acting the superiority for the sake of it. Tossers.

One day an Evo will come belting round a corner and take the one on the outside of the two abreast completely out and during those last few breaths of life I imagine he will think "I'm a tt"

Doesn't stack up though
Check out the helmets thread for risk compensation
Ask why there are more collisions on lower speed roads than high speed ones
If they see someone in the middle of the road, a driver is going to slow up and ask what they're doing here
'if they see'

Depending where it is, it may not come under 'courtesy for other road users' which is why most pedestrians and cyclists keep to the side

IME riding in the gutter is way more dangerous - drivers are more likely to overtake in dumb places, it's much harder to see around LH corners and before long some tt WILL take you out when they drive half way out of a side road in front of you.

I find it ironic when it is suggested that cyclists should show courtesy to motorists. Not only do many drivers show no courtesy to me while cycling, a significant minority show a complete and callous disregard for my life.

Do you mean you want to be able to blast around B roads as fast as you want and to hell with everyone else whose presense means you have to drive sensibly for all of 15 seconds.

I simply don't buy this argument that people lke you are actually held up as much as you think. And of course forget that "getting held up" is part of life since if you never want to get held up when driving. Drive to the Nurburgring!

Aren't you delightful. rolleyes

One day you'll come home and find your mrs getting fked by someone else. And worse, she'll REALLY be enjoying it. Telling her new man friend that you're a loser and can't do it like him. And as you sneak back out to avoid the confrontation (since you're just another internet gobste) you'll realise "I'm a tt" Just as a heads up, she's already doing that, you just don't know about it smile

No ones saying bikes should ride in the gutter smash
It crops up too many times that someone implies they have.
Besides there are very few roads with a gutter and those aside bikes are usually able to ride over to the left without issue

Cycling two abreast on a quiet road
But, and this is from a cyclist, why on earth are they not in single file? Especially when a car approaches from behind. At which point they all seem to become totally deaf.

It's just not on, really.

Wheres the car behind them? confused

You have assumed that this group will not change their formation based on your own preconceptions.

Post a pic of your bike, since I don't actually believe you ride often on the road. (Bit like several of the posters here who berate cyclists for no real reason other than "they are on my roads" then say "but I'm a cyclist" when its quite apparent they aren't

Witnessed another pair of tts today.

One was about a meter from the pavement (in the road) and his friend was next to him. They weren't even pedalling very fast... so you can imagine the huge stream of traffic behind them.

Now you might not think much of this 'till you realise there was a fking empty cycle lane on the pavement to their left all the way down the road... and one on the other pavement on the other side of the road, again completely empty (and I have seen cyclists travel on it in the wrong direction).

Now either these cyclists were fking retarded or they got some kick out of holding traffic up in rush hour on a busy exit from a city?

I was glad to see them wearing helmets however. Which matched all their lycra.

The red outlines represent where they were.

Never you mind said:
Can't we just say the world is full of pricks and some of them dress in lycra and ride a bicycle, some of them are in cars (Possibly wearing the full racing driver outfit) and some are in leathers on motorbikes.

Get a lot of cyclists round our way (imagine really narrow roads with lots of big hedges and blind corners). The village is really anti cycling at the moment due to inconsiderate littering, inconsiderate riding and even stopping to piss on the village green and they never seem to have a happy looking faces. Thought you did this for enjoyment?
Did two people write this post??

You can't make this stuff up... laugh

This is why cyclists are seen as a nuisance by so many road users. It does nothing to ease their cause........i see cyclists getting drenched from car windscreen washer jets and choking on diesel fumes most days after incidents like these as cars retaliate for the hold up.
