Well done Lanzante and Kenny Brack bow

"During the final phases at Nurburgring Nordschleife, XP1LM achieved a fastest lap of 6.43.2. After setting this new lap record, the car then drove directly from Nurburgring back home to the UK."

So £1.8 million more than the Performante buys you 10 seconds...

Impressive lap and impressive driving, but imo ....
- this just makes the laps of the road cars from Lambo and the 918 that much more impressive
- this is a track car made road legal (and at that imo it looks unlikely this car would get TÜV approval, looks like one of those British single vehicle type approval cars like the Radicals, which nobody counts either in the road car times)
- this makes it rather doubtful the road P1 could get a sub 7 minutes lap imo

I would love to own one, but how come this car with about 1000hp and the biggest aero they could find is only 10 sec faster than the Lambo .... and probably even less materially faster than a full production 918 on the latest Trofeo R tyres

Some full-on Ring wars! Good for the customer.

Talk of the Aventador S SV / Performante on track to do ~6:30 in a few months. Puts the P1 LM track-car time in perspective.

Where will they find 30 seconds? I suspect it is as likely as the SL lap time, but that's just me.

Because of the law of diminishing returns. These seconds are getting very hard to find as these are some serious laptimes.

Very impressive driving.

However, let's be honest - it's a racing car. I know it was driven home from the track, but it's as far removed from a road car as it can be. I'm not playing down the achievement, because it's clearly an engineering masterpiece and judging by that lap it is an obscenely capable car. I'd have one in a heartbeat.

Also at the limit of tyres.
Assuming the Performante was on Trofeo R, doesn't really matter how much more downforce you have if you're at the limit of the tyre.

The point about downforce is that it does increase grip, by forcing the tyres onto the tarmac harder.

Are they claiming the 20600m Nordschleife-"industry pool straight" record or the full 20863m lap record? Wikipedia says it's the former and the video isn't clear to me.

surely only up to what the tyre walls can support ?

ie the sideways deflection they can sustain as a product of centripetal force, once the contact patch has provided grip to exceed what the sidewall can support before its deflection is unsustainable? let alone the downwards deflection on rotation.

If you want to go fast....

I take your point but the GTR wasn't £1.8m new. It's just been a great investment.
Besides, who knows if the ring spec Performante can even be bought as a customer...

Fact is there's a new ring king. Over to you Lamborghini.

(It's all nonsense of course)

It wasn't? There were three slightly different packages offered, the average price of which was very near to £1.8m.

I stand corrected.
Didn't the price include a year or two of special track events also?

One thing not in doubt : Kenny Brack is a proper nutter.

I'm still impressed, regardless of it originally being a race car or not. The road conversion is more than a set of road tyres and some headlinghts. A big undertaking for a small company.

Is it really though? They charge quarter of a million on top of the P1 GTR.

I'm sure they are very good at what they do but so they should be at that money. It's not alchemy!

I will stick with the Performante thanks.

Knowing the guys personally at Lanzante, yes it is.
