This. Coincidentally a wheel speed sensor has failed after you have had the software update.
Could it not be connected though? I've had software updates on my company vehicle to fix a problem only for it to cause another rolleyes

One of my customers got the same letter and took his car in for the update and as far as I know hasnt had any problems, but he came straight to me from the update with a list of supposed faults found to be needing repair whilst the update was being done which in my opinion was a total work of fiction.
VW dealers are notorious for upselling while your car is in for something else.

VW UK encourages the dealers to do this, including by having loads of 'optional' (i.e. Extra cost) service items, which the dealers will tell you are mandatory.

Wonder if the update required steering wheel calibration after and this has been done incorrectly.

It re-calibrates automatically after the car is driven a few hundred yards if the battery is disconnected. I wouldn't have thought the battery would have disconnected before or after the update was applied.

Highly unlikely. The ABS / ESP software will be in a separate control module to the engine software.

It does. But I'm wondering if the software update has reset stored values and someone has manually calibrated it incorrectly.

Might be worth looking on some of the vw/audi forums as there could well be a member with VCDS who could do a quick scan and pull the fault codes and the history of codes too, this would show what is causing the current codes and if there was any faults with the glow plugs too.
