It's little wonder they didn't sell many, what an awful looking thing.
Mate, really?

Put your specs on and look again. It's wonderful.

I'd have to disagree. I think they look cool.

Not presented in the most encouraging of manners. Couldn't be bothered rolling it out of the driveway.

For some reason, I have a massive urge to buy this, leave it looking exactly as it is but fit some modern tyres, upgrade the brakes and fit a Clio 172 engine. It that is at all even possible.
It's RWD with a longitudinal front engine...You got skillz?
Hmm. Some lateral thinking needed. I can't think of another rear wheel drive Renault that would have a suitable amount of performance. The engine bay looks too narrow for a Nissault 3.5 V6.

Can someone with suitable Renault beardage confirm or deny that the 1400 cc lump that Volvo borrowed for the rear wheel drive 340 is the same basic engine as the one used in the Renault 5 Turbo? Would that engine somehow work?

Or would you just shove a Zetec or Vauxhall lump in there?
5 turbo into volvo 340 goes so, sounds like a sound idea...personally I'd cruise it sloooow, no engine swap required

1.7 Turbo from the 400 series Volvos would probably go too. They were less laggy than the 1.4 so would suit the character but still give it sleeper qualities.

I managed to bag myself a 1982 Citroen CX Safari, been off the road for 7 years but the MOT history tells a story of a well looked after car. I'll be sure to post some pics when it arrives on Tuesday. I have no idea what I'll do with it, I pretty much only bought it because I knew I wouldn't find another any time soon.

Touring car replica candidate right there. I've wanted to get one and build a semi mad trackday car on an Accord / S40 / Pug 406 base for years now.

YES!!

Finally someone else with my weird obsession with this idea.

I always fancied doing a green Laguna with gold wheels.

I'm doing it with a Cav GSI. That Volvo is a great candidate for it, come join in the fun!

Is it the white one that's been for sale for a bit? I do love these cars

An image of a Fregate. It's a monocoque or separate chassis?

It's the blue/green one that's on carandclassic. I know I can get it running and make it presentable again but the only thing that will kill the deal for me is if the clutch pedal looking like this means it needs a clutch as it's apparently an engine out job

Someone did do it with a Volvo when I was going to Sunderland Uni back in '97-ish, only saw it once though. Pulled up at the roundabout/interchange for the A19 heading when one pulled up to the right of me. Sadly didn't go in for the full effect just the sticker job so no lowered suspension/bodywork but the wrap was on par. I remember it because of the lack of lowering/bodywork... I suspect the missus wouldn't have been too happy had he gone in for the full works on the family car biggrin .

If you're going to do this, at least use a T4 as a base. But I also like the idea if a Supertouring replica
