really? If that's a 488 it's still less than 2m wide.
Can any car almost two meters wide just take up two bays?
Not so much that car width, its the low wide doors and low seats. Can any car almost two meters wide just take up two bays?
Making it difficult to get in and out.
If one was to bang a car next to it, while in a 488, I'm sure people would make your life really difficult.
I get that it might be harder to get in or out of, but it's still parking like a tt.
Basically you're agreeing with this guy?
Anyway, I don't mind it that much, I love these people keeping a spot for the Twizy .
wker.
YOUR choice YOU compromise.

Jaguar (on the left) and Polestar (on the right) were already charging.
Merc just reversed in and left it like this.
Corsa squeezed in but driver had to get out of passenger side. In a larger car you would have had trouble exiting the car.

Jaguar is close to the line so not a great deal of space for the Merc. But yes - Instadolt!thetapeworm said:
I parked like that last week on a visit to a garden centre. As I walked away i glanced back and though "you made a right pig's ear of that!" and returned to move it back a foot or two. Checked the rear end of the car, and that was hanging out of the back of the parking space too... so the space was about 2ft shorter than my Saab convertible (not a long car by most standards).
Basically, anything bigger than a corsa wouldn't fit. I think they must have measured it out when everyone was driving Austin 1100s and Anglias and have never thought to change.

Some anger at the Ferrari in this thread, repressed socialist tendencies perhaps? Remarkable.
Far from it, personally i'm slightly to the right of Genghis Kahn, but like most of those on the right of things actually believe in freedom of choice how one spends the money they've grafted for.Now i know its a Ferrari, cheers all, then one would like to assume the driver takes some pride in their car and also their driving, as they are likely to be the subject of attention from some quarters at all times, competent driving also means being able to park.
Anyone with such a car should have taken the trouble to find a space possibly at the end of a row where they could park right up to the edge of the outside line and vacate the car easily, apparently there were spaces on other rows where it could have been parked properly.
Yes there are people of various ideoligies who would not only be envious of such a vehicle, but some are also the type to vandalise the vehicle, taking two spaces only seeks to antagonise the already lacking under the baseball cap dept.
Having had several vehicles over the years damaged in car parks, my vehicles are always parked sensibly, even though my cars are only worth probably the price of a full service on the car in question i still try to make sure the incompetents fools and brain dead vandals out there have less chance of hitting them.
I'm personally not angry at the owner, and certainly not envious in any way, just i'd have taken more pride in the parking part of driving if it were mine.

I'm not going to defend the Ferraris parking, but I'm not sure that all the comments about the type of car are called for, especially on a site that's meant to be for petrol heads.
The vehicle is irrelevant. Inconsiderate people are everywhere in every walk of life and I have some sympathy for those who try to keep their cars immaculate however it's relatively easy to either find a safe space [parallel, fan shape, next to a concrete pillar etc - usually the farthest away] or to get there early doors, last thing or not risk parking there at all. I've also stood guard...

I don't entirely disagree with you but some of the reactions to the Ferrari's lousy parking are demonstrably more vitriolic than other brands hence my tongue in cheek comment. However you cut it, the parking is crap and it just invites attention, especially given it's a Ferrari. I went to Waitrose once in my F430 but parked as far away as I possibly could to avoid toe rags slamming their door into it. For the sake of an extra minute's walk, I don't know why more people don't do this.
Agreed. There is another side to this, its a pleasure to see vehicles driven well and that includes being able to park.
Times i've been in an MSA shaking my head at people with cars far too large for them to cope with trying repeatedly to drive into a parking space that would have been simple had they reversed in, supermarket cars parks are different in that generally people will be loading shopping into the boot, though i still try to reverse park or find an end bay so can access the back of my car without endagering someone else's car, you'll also find me as far away as possible from the entrance.
The more individual a car, as you rightly allude to, the more attention it will be given.

Jaguar is close to the line so not a great deal of space for the Merc. But yes - Instadolt! The spaces would be perfectly wide enough if all the cars were Corsas. The Corsa is perfectly wide enough for two people to sit comfortably in the front seats, so there's no need for any car to be any wider than it is. The back seats are a bit tight but that could be resolved by making it longer. The Tesla model 3 effectively does that. It is a little bit wider but not excessively so. Almost every other EV is unnecessarily wide - you don't need a vehicle the width of a Transit van unless either you want to carry large amounts of tools in it or have three seats across the front.

Almost, it actually sums up pretty well what's wrong with most EVs.

High capacity long range battery packaging issue that ought to be resolved in time with significantly higher energy density technology. The spaces would be perfectly wide enough if all the cars were Corsas. Could still park straight and centrally though.
