Nice car, not so nice parking! Waitrose car park in High Wycombe.
Nothing wrong there.

If he parked normally, I doubt the doors would open properly without hitting another car.
I wonder what the excuse is here then?...

you don't need a vehicle the width of a Transit van unless either you want to carry large amounts of tools in it or have three seats across the front.
What about 3 seats across in the rear?
Can’t say that I have seen a three seater in the front for a while, pre seat belt time some had a bench seat in the front.
Fiat multipla. Which was 73.7" wide compared to a Mercedes EQC's width of 74.2"

Almost, it actually sums up pretty well what's wrong with most EVs.

The spaces would be perfectly wide enough if all the cars were Corsas. The Corsa is perfectly wide enough for two people to sit comfortably in the front seats, so there's no need for any car to be any wider than it is. The back seats are a bit tight but that could be resolved by making it longer. The Tesla model 3 effectively does that. It is a little bit wider but not excessively so. Almost every other EV is unnecessarily wide - you don't need a vehicle the width of a Transit van unless either you want to carry large amounts of tools in it or have three seats across the front.
Not sure the issue is confined to EVs. I have a 4 Series BMW which I reckon would fill that space. A Corsa wouldn't really suit our family (2 growing teenagers). Those kind of spaces are designed without much thought for getting in and out of the car.

(I realise that's EV parking in photo but assume rest of the car park is like it as well)

Big cars those Mondeos, very long.

Minis too... maybe it was slippy just there.

I parked like that last week on a visit to a garden centre. As I walked away i glanced back and though "you made a right pig's ear of that!" and returned to move it back a foot or two.
Checked the rear end of the car, and that was hanging out of the back of the parking space too... so the space was about 2ft shorter than my Saab convertible (not a long car by most standards).
Basically, anything bigger than a corsa wouldn't fit. I think they must have measured it out when everyone was driving Austin 1100s and Anglias and have never thought to change.
I appreciate what you're saying there, some are badly marked out, but in the example above my Saab 95 Estate fits comfortably in these spaces, as do things like Transit vans etc - these two (and others) were just very bad at parking and unlike your good self didn't look back and try to make things better.

Sticks.

The same car? I'd definitely be tempted to let a couple of tyres down

Email it to the head of the school. Our Primary takes a very dim view and will happily pull parents aside for a word.

If it's anything like the school I live opposite, they'll probably send out an email and nothing will happen - EMail the council too, they'll do just as little (if it's anything like my council)...

Yeah, the workman there have been a nightmare in the last week or so, and that side road (Bruce Grove) is horrible at the best of times. Crap visibility, cars edge out and give you no choice but to stop dead in a line of traffic to let them out.

On the one hand I feel for them, what can they do? Still, this looks like the worst solution. Why do people think it's ok to just block the pavement but not a lane?

Did you see the broken-down flatbed with the Luton van on it a few weeks ago...tailbacks all the way down Princes rd, absolutely screwed Tesco nobody could get in or out, it was there for three hours redface

It's a challenging junction, particularly when turning right with the vast majority of traffic exceeding the 30 limit...and never letting you out.

He was in one of the houses on Wood St, his initial parking wasn't blocking the entire pavement, just the whole corner as there were cars parked (legally) on the other side, whilst he was on double yellows. I know all of this as I was walking to Tesco when he ran out of the house to move because a Transit was leaning on his horn as the road was blocked.

I called 101 as he was still there over 40mins later, having moved onto the kerb as well as the double yellows. So not a fleeting visit and the bark-muncher on the trailer was just taking the Michael.

Wouldn't know, I'm usually on this so traffic is a thing of the past biglaugh but it only takes one delivery lorry or incident there and that whole roundabout and all surrounding roads become gridlocked. 'Twas a daily thing at the Miami roundabout when the petrol buying fad was in full swing. (FYI, the Tesco petrol station is closed for 3 months for 'improvements')

There are always half a dozen or so cars parked on the yellow diagonal lines outside the school on Princes Road every morning, despite there being a very generous drop-off loop area inside the gates
