Well the left have absolutely dismantled every single form of authority so it’s hardly a surprise people behave in such a fashion.
And the police also refuse to do their job, so that’s not likely either.
The left?

Really?

Can you explain how they have done that when the Tories have been in power 10 years?

Tory voter still angry when they have all they wanted (Tory Government, big majority, Brexit . . .) smile

Ive got no photos of bad parking, but I think the thread is about to descend into chaos. So here’s a photo of a Peugeot parking next to my car despite the car park being near empty. I hope it causes a distraction.

Amazing how someone has managed to work their way up to be a civil engineer and not understand the basics of modern politics.
I’ve never voted for the Conservative party.

Congratulations. Wrong on both counts.

Apologies for crap picture
They would have a job parking that correctly with the white Corsa where it is on the left hand side
Not really, just park about 3 foot further to the right into the next space. This is obviously presuming that the corsa parked 1st of course.
Personally if the Corsa was already there I’d have parked about 3 spaces away to avoid some arse squeezing in next to me

Yes, because conversations never go off topic in real life.
I won’t point out the irony of your post not being about bad parking.

Self appointed thread police alert.

Anyway back on topic eh ........ as for thread Police........ someone has to try and point out the error of random strangers on a worldwide Internet forum. Otherwise who can sleep at night.

Can I make a guess? Blocking gypsies from getting into what looks like some sort of park?

That would have been publicly spirited of them, but no. Not even close.

The camera van in the photos used to park in this location regularly, but not as shown in the photos. It’s usual position was reversed hard up against the hedge which can be seen in the first photo, with the nearside rear wheel on the outside of the pavement next to the bus stop, thereby forcing anyone using the pavement to step out into the road. In that position only a small part of the van was visible to approaching traffic, but the camera had a clear view up the road. More than a bit sneaky, and illegal due to the van blocking the pavement and access to the bus stop.

The camera van was also blocking the gates, which were in regular use, as indicated by the signs. These signs are not legally enforceable, but they do give a pretty good clue that parking there is likely to cause access problems for the owners of the field.

So.... I felt that this was taking the piss. It's one thing to use safely parked camera vans (although I hate the bloody things) but quite another to park illegally in order to gain maximum revenue. So I wrote to the Chief Constable's Office.....

I eventually received a reply from the Team Leader of the Safety Camera Operators, who said that parking in this location would not be sanctioned, but because the number plates had been obscured by Google he couldn't pursue it any further. I replied that he must surely have records of which vans parked where and when in order to support prosecution, and as I had given dates it should be possible to identify the individual(s) concerned. I didn't get a reply......

So..... I put in a Freedom of Information Request, asking for information regarding the number of vans, the number of operatives, and the time and date at each location over the month in question. The vans were identified as 1, 2, 3 and 4, and the operatives as A, B, C and D, so as to protect their identities.

I sent this information to the Team Leader (and copied everything to the Chief Constable's Office), and awaited his response. Not a happy bunny! He eventually replied to say that the person concerned had recently retired (perhaps enjoying a holiday at a unicorn farm in Atlantis), and that because 6 months had passed no further action could have been taken anyway. There were also veiled threats that if this matter had been taken further things might not have turned out well for me - presumably as a disincentive to try anything similar in future - "The alleged offender would then have the opportunity to have the matter heard before a magistrate court. The prosecution would have to prove an actual obstruction as opposed to a potential obstruction. This was held in Nagy v West (1965) & Evans v Barker (1971). Of course you would also have had to attend court to give evidence and had it tested by the defence, which I presume you would have been willing to do."

There was no point in taking this any further, and as the camera van hasn't been back at that location since then I take that as a win.

It did change my view of the police though. Despite not having a criminal record, having had a clean driving licence since passing my test over 40 years ago, and being an upright citizen by anyone's standards, I no longer consider them to be entirely honourable or trustworthy.

Sticks.

If the cars belong to bus drivers, why can’t I see at least one indicator permanently blinking?

It didn't descend into quite the chaos I imagined, I thought we were going to go full NP&E in here. I like to think my picture helped.

No need for an indicator, when they proudly display their parking passes;

Reported the vehicles to the County Council as per https://www.sussex.police.uk/advice/advice-and-inf... only for them to respond with;

"Enquiry closed : Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately WSCC Highways is not the parking authority. We have no parking enforcement powers to remove or ticket vehicles, these powers fall to either the district council with their parking enforcement officers or with the police if a vehicle is causing an obstruction. If vehicles are causing an obstruction we would advise you to call non-emergency 101 and inform the police of the details of the vehicle. Apologies that we could not be of more assistance."

That's on the Henley / Marlow road opposite Swiss Farm , not a good road to steep out into .

Mines the TVR. The spaces either side were empty when I parked. The tt in the VW, who parked over into the parking bay I was in, left himself plenty of space the other side to get out and put on his wetsuit before going off for a Surf ! 🤬

To say it’s a challenge getting in a Cerbera driving seat from the passenger side is an understatement to say the least!
