Unsymmetrical cars - The new Discovery

Not a car I know, but on the topic of symmetry I'm baffled by the styling of the BMW S1000RR
I know I'm going to go to Hell and/or get flamed to death for saying this but I can't help of thinking of Forest Whitaker every time I see on on the road.
I think it looks like it's wearing a monocle...I know I'm going to go to Hell and/or get flamed to death for saying this but I can't help of thinking of Forest Whitaker every time I see on on the road.

aybe for the commercial buyers, but certainly no-one else. A D4 has no rival among pickups.
Tell that to the 3 or 4 posters in the last thread talking aboit 4x4s (OP was complaining about the prevalence of pickups, tattoo'd gym hard man stereotype was chucked about) who where talking about using pickups as family carsThey are really becoming the only option if you want a simple, tough, 4x4. New ones all have glammed up interiors, with leather seats and infotainment systems, aimed directly at the old Disco market.
People may be defecting to crew-cab pickups, especially now they're being fancied up, but they're not really equivalent vehicles imo.

I don't think you could ever call a Disco 4 a "simple, tough 4x4" at £40k+

I think you misunderstand his comment.People may be defecting to crew-cab pickups, especially now they're being fancied up, but they're not really equivalent vehicles imo.
He's saying that the pickups are the simple, tough 4x4s, and will attract what were previously the market for the Discovery. That the Discovery was that, but now it isn't.
Funnily enough I saw a Disco 5 following a Disco 4 on the M40 earlier. The D4 has aged so well, and unlike the contemporary Range Rover they didn't bling it up too much over it's lifespan, it really did look great. The new one looked very faddy and weak in comparison, it's almost like they made it look st to get you to upgrade to some model of RR.

Have there been many (any?) cars that were asymmetrical at the front?
probably. Anything with a bonnet scoop or any sort of bonnet ornamentation that wasn't dead centre, for example. The cover of the towing eye, bumper inserts, the position of that big black sensor on the grille of some Volvos, etc.Sid123 said:

The original Fiat Panda had an asymmetrical grille. One bit of asymmetry I hate is rear lights with a fog light on one side and a reversing light on the other.
ETA the Vauxhall Adam is especially bad in this respect. A nasty heap of ste rendered even worse by the lights in the rear bumper.

Asymmetric light clusters never bothered me, always struck me as an efficient use of space as you really don't need 2 reverse or fog lights on the back.
As for front ends, Alfas have been running asymmetric front ends with offset plates for donkeys, they pull it off extremely well. A lot of smaller JDM vehicles seem to have the same with there square front plates being mounted where the towing eye is traditionally mounted here.
