Saw an immaculate Citroen C6 wafting down the M1 into town this morning. First sighting for many months. Rare and comfy +++!
That's a good shout....infact anything big and French pretty much qualifies. Thinking of the likes of the Renault Safrane , Peugeot 608 and super rare Talbot Tagora V6

Z4M?
Did they struggle to sell them, or were numbers just low due to being late to market with it? Not actually sure, but I know BMW originally gave Alpina permission to create the Z4-based 3.4 Roadster S as they had no plans for an M-model. When they changed their minds after a couple of years and introduced the Z4M, Alpina ceased production

The wrap us probably worth more than the car.

Escort RS2000 Mk5/6 or better still the 4x4 version.

Come to think about it , they also did a Mk5 Mexico as well.

I used to have a Mk6 RS2000 fwd. a great fun car to drive and would keep up with most things on a decent B road. I think that they suffered from low headline power figures, being quite pricey new and mostly from looking exactly the same as every other Ford Escort in the showroom.
A pity, it really was a surprisingly good car apart from the rust.
I have noticed that the later Mk6 ones, when tested by mags, did seem a bit more 'leisurely' than the Mk5s

The Ford Cougar didn't do so well ,compared to it's little brother Puma which seemed to do okay.

Any of the original BMW 1 Series with a 6 cylinder engine - 125i/135i Coupe and 130i Hatch. Think they barely got above 1000 of each variant sold in the UK, compaed to the eleventy million 118d's they sold.

However useful for those of us who managed to find one, as they aren't really going down in value - 125i prices look very similar to when I bought mine 3 years ago.
Theres only 5 125i autos for sale on auto trader. I have one which is better specd than all the ones for sale,Could this be my first car ive bought and not lost a packet on??

Vauxhall Cascada? Can't remember actually seeing one in the UK!

I think my 760 is one of 160 or so across the 2002-2008 lifecycle of the model. Probably as rare as I'll ever manage as an owner.

Fiat Croma (big ugly thing, not that old)

Scenic RX4

Renault Koleos

Chevrolet Orlando

All kinds of mass market dross unloved now everyone wants a 'premium' compact SUV.

Lightly used Mk1 Clio V6s were selling for £8-10k around the same time, I had a chance to buy a Mars Red one. Could have had a stable of appreciating assets if you hoovered up a few niche Renaultsports around that time (probably a 182 Trophy as well for good measure)
Very true. The MK1 V6 was the less popular model when the MKII appeared with more power and more modern looks. Both V6 Clios still look fantastic and will creep up.

I have a MKI Megane 225 and a Twingo 133 Gordini, both low mileage (only 200 of the Twingos) but neither are 'the' spec in those models so values are still bottoming out really.

The Corrado is a car that VW would gladly write out of its history.
About 9000 sold in the UK between 1989 and 1996 across all model types IIRC.
Possibly something to do with the price at the time, and being sold concurrently with the MK2 Scirocco up until 1992 didn't help!
Not the sales success they were hoping for despite being a good car.

Cheers,
Tom

I had an MG6 and to be honest it was better than you'd think.

I currently have a Citroen C-Crosser which is fab.

I seem to like oddball carslaugh

As for a car that I don't think has sold very well - Ford's Vignale range. I don't think I've ever seen one on the road, or in a showroom.

One of those is my Mrs'. A saloon no less. Which must be rarer.

Shockingly the Nissan Note has been canned and production stopped now. I see millions about, I wouldn't have guessed it was a failure.
That's the most surprising thing to come out of this thread for me. Why?! They're everywhere! I had one as a courtesy car recently, really nice bit of kit I'd happily own as a commuter/family car. My wife even said she'd get one next.

I read something once to say Subaru only makes 400K cars a year which puts them at the low volume end of the manufacturing spectrum. That may account for their relative rarity moreso than buyer's choice.

Or more likely it'll be the fuel economy. That's the first thing people used to comment on whenever the subject of mine cropped up.

I had a Legacy 3.0Rn which is probably the best car I've ever owned. I've since had a couple of big Mercs to put that into context.

The R26R didn't sell quite as many as Renault hoped despite very good press reviews. Just over 100 cars

I swear 17 plate Insignia Grand Sport and a 17 plate Mondeo Vignale together the other day. The first I've seen of either - I wondered if it was some kind of press group test!

Both cars looked very, very nice.

The RS200 did't sell well, I believe they were sold at a loss in the end (they probably sold at a loss anyway taking into acccount development/low numbers produced).

Original Audi A6 Allroad, special shout to any of the petrol versions - 2.7 TT & 4.2v8.

In all fairness, the 2.5 Tdi was a dog of an engine. Good wafting when up to speed with the air suspension.

Checking AT, only one Mark 1 remaining and that's a US import 2.7 TT.
