I don't know about the numbers sold, but the Honda Accord Gen 8 is relatively rare. I think they tried (and in my opinion came damn close) to tidal the Germans rather than Vauxhall and Ford, but unfortunately they also went German in price but without the 'badge' and the lease deals. When I was looking for one trying to find a nice spec Ex or ExGt Tourer was a new ghtmare, but I ended up with the hens teeth Type S Tourer. Only ever seen one other tourer and one saloon in 3 years. Its a shame because it's been a great car and they've now discontinued the Accord altogether in the UK and I think Europe.

Shockingly the Nissan Note has been canned and production stopped now. I see millions about, I wouldn't have guessed it was a failure.

Escort RS2000 Mk5/6 or better still the 4x4 version.

Come to think about it , they also did a Mk5 Mexico as well.

Mini Paceman
Mini Coupe
Mini Roadster
Mini Clubvan

All a sales disaster but I applaud Mini for having some fun with the 2nd Gen Minis. Current range is a bit of a box ticking exercise.

I weirdly really like the styling of the Paceman, despite being horrified at it when it was launched.

The 75 V8 was rear drive, yes. Same engine as the ZT260 but the ZTs were manual and the 75 was automatic.

There were also suspension differences as well as the normal differences between a normal 75 and ZT.

The 75 V8 got a different grille though (also used on late, long wheelbase 75s)

The only 75 V8 I've ever seen was on the A69 heading westbound a few years ago. The fecker driving it held me up on one of the overtaking sections by passing a lorry at about 59mph...the only time I see one and the driver is too afraid of the throttle to pick up the pace.

The Meriva VXR is an interesting mention. I've seen a couple before. They look fun! A mate of mine used to have a Colt Ralliart. Quite good fun, a bit like a Suzuki Swift Sport. I suppose Mitsubishi's poor dealer presence in the UK accounts for that. The demise of Mitsubishi is a sad tale indeed.

I will nominate the Honda Jazz Hybrid. A great little car, but poorly placed for the UK market. They were considerably more expensive than the rest of the Jazz range, not just because they were made in Japan whereas the others were made in Swindon. They took the Insight drivetrain and put it in a modified Jazz but it wasn't a big seller. I've seen two since I bought one in January 2016, and the dealer remarked that they don't see many.

Are they a sale disaster because you know they are or think/assume they are; I ask because (apart from the van), I see a fair few of each daily?

It's a huge seller. It's a brave move by Nissan as the last Micra was a sales disaster, so they must be confident in the new one (which does look fairly good for a Micra). I always wanted to try a Note with the supercharged engine, it's supposed to be pretty good.

Mexico was a rubbish limited edition with no sporting pretensions whatsoever.

Different seat trim and hubcap design sort of thing.

I don't know that much about old fast ford's but.i wad talking to my grandparents (who are the most non-car people you can wish to meet) about their past cars and my grampa mentioned they had an Escort Mexico. I thought they were cooler than I'd given them credit but they were talking about their mid 90s mk5. They bought a new Jazz 3 years ago, the 1.2, the Hybrid was discounted for being too pricey and and they barely do 2k a year so it wasnt worth it. Although I do quite fancy one for the wife and baby to potter around in.

I used to have a Mk6 RS2000 fwd. a great fun car to drive and would keep up with most things on a decent B road. I think that they suffered from low headline power figures, being quite pricey new and mostly from looking exactly the same as every other Ford Escort in the showroom.
A pity, it really was a surprisingly good car apart from the rust.
