How do you solve a problem of nuisance bikers racing up and down the street?
I have a problem with bikers in my area. Not all of them just the knobheads.
My street is quite straight and fairly long and because of this it has speed bumps all the way up however they are the ones with a large gap in the middle.
Now every single night without fail there are bikes that get to the bottom of the street drop a few gears and absolutely rag it to the very top near the next junction. The bikes are extremely loud and very very fast. It got to the point where I had to move my son's room from the front of the house to the back because they were waking him up.
Police don't want to know even though they're going fast and the council are a waste of time.

Anyone had any experience of this and how to solve it?
I suppose the PH way would be to follow them home and hammer frozen sausages in the front lawn or wait at the top and throw a can of red bull at them.
Joking aside it is very very annoying and it appears I am helpless.

Get out there and video them. Present it to the police, ask them to do something about it?

I have sent one video and a few photos of when a few bikes wheelied up the street.

Get out there and flag them down? If they stop nicely explain why it's pissing you off, and keeping your son awake? You never know...

Spill some diesel in the gaps between the speedbumps.

Do you have any local associations for residents? Either join one for start one. In these cases, there is power in numbers. We have got TFL to change plans from our input/complaints.Also local papers often looking for stories.

Place a traffic cone between the two speed humps.

Over the last few months I have really started to get annoyed with loud cars/bikes. As in stupid loud. Even back when I was a yoof in my teens I thought a Subaru with a huge exhaust was slightly annoying but the other day I was food shopping and a yoof in his blue subaru was spanking his car in the underground car park. I wanted to smash his face in as it was driving me mad. (Bit aggressive I know). FYI When I had my Subaru I had a standard STI exhaust on it which was lovely and quiet.

Where we live there is a man on a motorbike and every evening about 6pm he races up through the street with the bike screaming. That annoys me.
I often see a man bun type guy in a stickered up Type R and it sounds horribly loud and he rags it everywhere. That really annoys me.

Now I love cars and bikes. Nothing better than going to a race track and hearing a race car engine but that's at a race track. I don't think there is any need for it on a daily basis...

I get the feeling this may be an unpopular opinion here though.
Is it one chap as it was back in May or is there now a group of them?

Kids? Find out where they live and chat to parents perhaps.

If kids are doing that then the parents will, let's be honest, probably be pond life.

If you have a video, getting it onto social media usually does a good job of sparking some outrage then the police are pressured to do more.

Good plan. Get some videos, post them to your local police forces facebook/twitter accounts, it's very hard for them to then not do anything about it.

Is it also upsetting your neighbours? Get them to sign a complaint and post that too. They'll take the opinion of multiple people far more seriously.

I was joking.
Unfortunately the actions of a few impact on the many.
Just like the thread above mentioning the loud car exhausts which I also find annoying.
I fail to see why everyone else should be inflicted with an individual knobhead's desire to make such a loud noise with their vehicle that it can be heard 100's of metres away.
I'd be having words with the Police Community Support team and insisting on some action.
There will be an accident at some point if they are going as fast as described.
Involve the local press if no action from plod, advising that plod are taking no action. 'Won't somebody think of the children' etc.

Fully grown adults it appears. Not talking 125cc bikes here either.
One of the bikes is a black R1.

No easy answer, unfortunately.

Most bikers are relatively normal people, but even normal people can be shortsighted and a selfish.

I would try to have a word with them or put up a big sign. "Bikers think... I want to sleep".

Unfortunately, it's 50/50. Could be met with understanding or it could be met with "you can't tell me what to do", knuckle dragging moronic rage.

Are you allowed to park on the street at night (i.e. single yellow lines?). If so, park a car on top of one of the speed humps which will force the bikers to go over the other hump rather than down the middle. If you can get a few neighbours to do the same, the effect will be even better.
It won't take more than a few nights for the bikers to give up using your road and go somewhere else.
Even if the road has double yellows, you could still arrange to be 'loading' at the time the bikers come through for a few nights without inconveniencing many normal drivers.
If it's got double red lines, you'll need to put a small coffee table in the boot of the car and load/unload this into your house.....
