RE: Vauxhall brings back the GSI!

A quick google..... I LOVE that!
I just hope it comes in some decent colours.
Apparently it will be at the Frankfurt show next week.

Unlike the saloon though, the GSi sports Tourer will be offered with two engine choices. Alongside a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, producing 257bhp and 400Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 152mph, a hot diesel variant will be offered too.
The GSi BiTurbo diesel makes use of a twin-turbo 2.0-litre engine, producing 198bhp and 480Nm of torque. With this engine on board, 0-62mph takes 7.9 seconds, while top speed comes in at 143mph. Both engines are mated to eight-speed gearboxes sending power to an all-wheel-drive system.

No as Admin on VXRonline I'd expect to have seen/heard something by now, so I'd say not happening as it stands
The problem the Insignia has is it's still going to be a GM product licensed or whatever for PSA/Opel/VX to build until the next generation lands
The Australians are getting V6 variants of this car which is replacing the Holden Commodore, and HSV will eventually be let loose on them too - surely this may base any possible VXR ones? Maybe they will then be imported at low volume like the 'Vauxhall' V8 models before?...The problem the Insignia has is it's still going to be a GM product licensed or whatever for PSA/Opel/VX to build until the next generation lands
If a VXR is not going to make an appearance, it's probably the PSA Deal which is blocking it - like you say, this car is a GM build car, so maybe they don't want a large performance model which is not of their making? Or atall? Which would be quite disappointing.

The Insignia is stepping up in Aus to replace the Commodore - hence the large V6 is a smaller shock in comparison to the V8 they had.If a VXR is not going to make an appearance, it's probably the PSA Deal which is blocking it - like you say, this car is a GM build car, so maybe they don't want a large performance model which is not of their making? There hasn't been mention of any new "VXR" models, there's no Astra K VXR, time will tell when the next generation of Corsa comes out but it's all gone quiet and was certainly the vibe I picked up at the last VXR Power Event trackday I attended
The thing I remember most is that weak handing and epic understeer that you could not be found as that wrong by calling it straight on! The engines were good and strong but they were always in a weak chassis so were not able to shine., the only thing I drove that was powered by a 'red top' was an elise that had blown the k series head gasket and fitted a qed built red top with 210bhp and sorted coilovers and this was a great car to use daily and still going strong now as a track car
