We were at 7 but decided to thin the herd and are now down to 3. Saved a bit come insurance renewal, although 1 of the 3 seems to account for every spare penny no matter what.

I'm a firm believer in rewarding oneself for hard work, so if you can afford eleventy vehicles without a negative impact on others, then crack on and enjoy! smile

Too many is when you spend more time taxing, insuring, servicing, cleaning & shuffling them on the drive than you do driving them.

I once had 7 vehicles to worry about, 5 cars and two motorbikes. It all became a haze of MOT's, tax's and insurances. smile

I'm down to 3 cars and a motorbike to worry about now. Life is much simpler. smile
Sounds like a nightmare, even 3 is a pain in the ass to be honest.

Totally agree with this.
When your hobby starts to feel a bit like work, time for a rethink.

I look forward to having enough cars to not care about multicar policies being more expensive, having a garage pick up a car for a service without worrying about whether there will be one left for me, getting someone in to valet them and a barn to keep them all in.

I'm currently at 17, of which 15 are on the road, the other 2 are currently being restored. 2 are currently being used by friends due to unforseen circs.

I'm in the fortunate position of having a lot of room to store my cars (massive old agricultural shed), and my job allows me to turn up in whatever car I feel like using. I can take a different car every day. smile

It sounds like a lot, but I'm sure that there are members on here who own a few cars which will be worth more than my whole collection!

I've only got four. Because that's all I have space for. Otherwise there would likely be more...

I have an electric car to make my commute cheap. It will be FREE in one more year.
I have a stty old estate car for lugging crap around, and going on winter/autumn journeys and holidays.
I have two two seater sports cars because my wife and I couldn't agree on just one.

All of them paid for long ago. All of them owe me nothing by now.

Got to replace the stty estate soon, though. Want a 4WD to make winter easier to deal with.

5.
All on 1 insurance policy. 3 are classic, so zero tax. A good local garage for MOTs. Storage is my main problem, or there would be a whole load more!

I always think it's as many as you can comfortably park without inconveniencing someone else by parking on the road. Currently we have a house of 4 cars (1 in the garage, 3 on the drive) and it works just fine. smile

My meanness precludes me paying so much VEL when I can only use one car so have two cars and a bike and one car is SORN for 6 months.

I would agree that you should have as many as you want, provided that you can afford to run them and have somewhere to park them. Hence why I only have one car!

As others have said, if you can afford, store and maintain them, as many as you like. As a car enthusiast, if they bring you pleasure in life, fill your boots.

Is there something else behind the Citroen?

5, that barely scratches the surface; biggest problem nowadays is keeping up with ins/ved/mot(where applicable) renewal dates.
I would have thought more than 30 was possibly too many, as you can't even drive a different one every day of the month laugh

I have 6 and have done for years. Two at the winter house in Arizona, four in Canada. Right number is definitely N+1.

On the basis you don't appear to have an Alfa, at least one more smile

I think it depends on where and how you store them?

A neighbour 6 doors up has 6 cars but only space to store 3 so 1 is parked on the grass (very council like) and the other 2 are parked on the already crowed road.

I currently have 4 (Daily, trackday car, classic and old daily that will soon be breaking for parts) plus a trailer; I do not think that this is a problem but my landlord is not impressed.

imo if they are running they are A-OK; if they are all projects and your place looks a mess then it is time to finish some projects before buying any more
