Its their sale They can try to sell it anyway they want

Let them get on with it

No one is forcing anybody to buy it
The easiest and intellectually laziest option in the entire history of discussion, just take an opposing view. Simples, eh?

I knew even before opening it it'd be EH.

On a couple of occasions: I've Live chat them and enquire about the service history (a major factor on a car when selling it). Live chat person says 'ill get someone to get back to you'.

Person calls you and says 'dont know but would you like to reserve the car'.

All sound polite but no depth or knowledge on the car.

All calls to EH are put through to a contact centre, the agent is just reading the same advert you are.

Bizarre as they are literally a number taking service. Why the need to employ them?

'Reserve' a car?

Without having any information at all about the car? History, owners, condition. Anything. I've asked all these and have been told someone will call me back. The person who calls back says they'd have to get back to me on the car but can confirm it's available and would I like to reserve.

What's the point of the contact centre and by extension the person with no knowledge or care about the car on the second call?

I knew it would be EH too before I opened it.

I used to work there and this is a regular occurrence, they simply give the car a quick blast with a jet wash and do the photos, they honestly don't care if its a mess or not. All about volume.

Worst place Ive ever worked, the entire company is a shambles.

Sad as the photos are, how sad that a once svelt stylish car now looks like a gelatenous blob.

I remember when you could recognise a manufacturer based on a design style, now you have to look at the badge. Thats the real story here

Put a nominal deposit down (often £99/100) so that no one else can buy it!

It's a fear tactic praying on people's thoughts that someone might snap up theirs bargain before them!

It's often non-refundable as well unless you are unapproved for finance or the vehicle isn't as shown (ie worse condition) ... which in fairness is a clever tactic here as it's going to take some going to make it worse!!

These guys are sharks.

Recently travelled from Derby to Stourbridge to the Kia dealer to see a mk6 Golf TDi that was a trade in.

They said it was in great condition and everything worked. I had also asked them to confirm the service history by phone before I arrived. Didn't bother.
I turned up and had a coffee. The usual greasy wideboys in the showroom. Car gets driven round;

Dents everywhere
5 different brands of tyre
All wheels scuffed
Trim missing inside
A/C blowing warm air
Engine management light on

They wouldn't entertain an offer. No apology. That light on wasn't there a minute a go!
I thanked them for wasting my day and the coffee.

Their customer service team called me for feedback, which I gave. I got an apology but am sure it went nowhere.

Not surprised, I travelled 100 mile to view a Focus ST which I was told was in excellent condition and ready to go. When I arrived the car was in the garage, which was locked up and took the salesmen 20 minutes to locate the keys and gain access. The car was in there for prep apparently but they couldn't find the keys conviently. It had a massive dent on the boot, all 4 wheels kerbed and the interior in similar condition to the Clio. I asked whether it was in here for prep such as refurb alloys, remove the dent and a thorough valet. I was told that as it's a "runabout" that the car is sold as seen so no further prep. The car also was overdue a service and was told they would not do this either! This was for a 2008 Focus ST up for typical market value, so how is it just a runabout?! No idea at all how they manage to sell cars like that. I've since purchased a ST from a Honda dealer who were excellent, putting some small niggles right before purchase then dealing with some warranty claims without issue.

4 owners too and only 1 recorded service at Renault; September 2015 at 4500 miles.

The sad thing is, someone will buy it.

The mechanical condition of the car is more of an issue IMO. Bought many cars with minor bodywork damage and scuffed alloys - some people (including myself) are just bad at parking!

Wow, look at the absolute state of that Clio. Cigarette burn in the driver's seat, too. Utterly abused by some young idiot, that car has been.

At least you could polish that Porsche's paintwork back up and it'd look stunning.

When second hand car hunting, I sometimes go to these big chains and large dealerships for the sheer morbid curiosity of seeing what you get for massively inflated prices over market value.

Every time I've done so, I've found cars that are far less than perfect, and yet cost significant percentages more than private sales for better vehicles of the same type.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been told "it's a used car mate, what do you expect" when challenging condition and other issues.
