I thought it was a 4x4 offroader?......
Really? You actually thought this was a 4x4 off-roader? I was always under the impression it's a luxury vehicle with a higher ride height than other RR models which just so happens to have 4WD. Much like something like a BMW X5 but far more luxurious. Whilst they can do a bit of off-roading, they are not primarily built for that purpose. They are actually built as road cars, because less than 1% of these sorts of cars actually need to go off-road.

Love how hard core off road vehicles became sanitised to use on roads.... and that now we have road vehicles relentlessly marketed as off road adventuring utility products with massive ground clearance and 4WD and hill descent...

but now, of course no no no...they're luxury cars that happen to ride higher and were never designed to go off road, the requirement for sump guards AWD, and all the very many tough styling cues weren't ever needed then....... rofl
It appears the manufacturers and buyers are at odds....
The massive market for high riding luxury cars would explain the huge amount Renault Espaces and similarly fully loaded MPVs on the road .... oh...

I've no real issue with high riding luxury vehicles.
AWD and hill descent and all that other pseudo macho "I'm going to drive as the crow flies" guff should be left on the drawing board...marketing guff swallowed by the image/status conscious imo.

I guess you could have the AWD version for the actual farmer/major land owner type.... but thems that drive AWD soft jeeps round the streets of suburbia...that's the laughable bit...

(No - I don't like it).
At least you won't have to see an old, mouth breathing, white pedophile in it then beer

Should be happy....

(Yes - I like it)
Quote/comeback/burn of the day for me!

So tired of this stereotypical (and plain wrong) claptrap being trotted out - anyone that would say " Can't wait to see one in a rap video sporting 26" Rims and spinners" wouldn't watch a hiphop video anyway. Rims and spinners? It's either one or the other, not both - utterly ignoramic. It's so funny how those same people never mention the fact one Jimmy Saville famously had a Rolls, no...?
The (thankfully historic) association of JS clearly seen as a positive to RR? Your on your own there laugh

What is it based on (as in what other car's underpinnings are used)?
Can only imagine it would be loosely based on the latest X5 platform.

So what hard core off road vehicles have become sanitised? The ones which were hard core and are still in production (albeit newer models) are every bit as capable as their predecessors. Those new models (such as this) have not had a history of ever being a "hard core off road vehicle" and therefore to BECOME sanitised, they must have been something else in the past, which they haven't.

Are there specific vehicles you're talking about? Maybe a Defender? Oh no, that still works off road. G wagon? ah....same again. Full fat Rane Rover? Nope, still does well off road. BMW X5, perhaps? Oh....never had a history of being a hard core off road vehicle, so your statement can't relate to that either.

Not sure confused

Is it wrong that I like it because it winds people up on here? ;-)

Lets face it, the majority of people on here are not the target market for this car, for various reasons!

Shhh.... You don't need a rational argument when complaining about a large SUV. They are just wrong, and owners are stupid.

(until you own one then realise they are hugely useful, close to the perfect large family car and understand why its the fastest growing automotive market wink )

The real problem isn't the cars but that non WASPs are allowed to buy them.

And don't get me started on men allowing their wife to drive one. It's a disgrace. What are they even doing leaving the home?

SUVs should strictly be for the honest, hard working white man. But the oppression continues unabated.

Anyone else want to say it looks like a London taxi again?

We've only had 4 or 5 so far

I actually quite like the RR, and also the Bentayga, although Bentley chickened out of a decent front end and just went with Conti, circa 2004

You can't make a car with that much power, and that much mass high up, and not make sure it corners without tipping over or doing something else awful.

The 'ring is a large track with lots of features you'll find on roads.

Where else should they test it?
'test' it?

I thought the idea was to flog the prototype to some orange faux-celeb or lottery winner, then work out where it went afterwards from the trail of demolished houses. Then you've got all the data you need for when the truly worthy poke their noses at it smile.
