Always liked these.

I'd have thought the GranTurismo would be a fine replacement as it still has that NA engine and I'd argue looks even better than the GranSport?
The problem with the GranTurismo is its size! It must be getting on for a foot longer than one of these.. Hopefully the talk about Maserati's new small sports car is actually true and they make something desirable again - they've been in lost in the woods since the brief 3200/4200 moment of clarity.

Always liked being in these - they sounded great (both the turbo and the later models), looked great and had loads of space in a lovely interior. How did they get 4 big seats into a car like this? It's not an old machine... The F-Type is the same size, has 2 seats and weighs more for goodness sake..

The bodyshell for the 4200 is essentially the same as the 3200 and that was launched in 1998. It was far easier to squash 4 seats into that sized car back then and make it look good. Don't kid yourself that the space is generous, mind. GranTurismo has more space in the back and is much easier to get a kid's car seat to fit but it is a lot longer as others' have said.

The main issue with the GS is whether you get on with the gearbox, think SMG, R-Tronic etc. With the GranTurismo this automated single clutch box is much improved or you have the option of a full auto with paddles. You need the 4.7, though, to have the performance of the GS.

^^^^^^

Or get a manual, (find one that is set up properly and the gear change is sweet), then you've got a NA Ferrari derived V8 and a dateless gearbox, and oodles of Italian soul. Motoring nivarna

This is a very capable car, a great tourer that is fast (0-60 in 4.8) with good leather interior. At the price there's no car I've found that can match the interior space (4 real seats) in such a compact package and forget about the 2+2s out there -they just don't compare.
