Dear all,

Just wanted to say that I just installed the Type N gearbox quickshifter arm from Kitchski (Richard) in my S3 and it is just brilliant.

I had an older kit from a UK firm installed but this is way better and makes driving fun again.

Very easy to install from the top side. Just remove the centre console and peel off the rubber cover. I had already made an opening in the glass fibre for the older install to get to the three bolts holding the shifter on the gearbox so it was all done in 30 minutes.

Highly recommended, just brilliant.

Kind regards
//Rob

interested in getting one of these, what are the benefits in comparison to the old one.. does it make selecting gear a tad smoother?

If you are on Facebook, there is a nice short video showing the difference in the 'S Series' group.

I'm just in the middle of fitting mine.

I found that two of the bolts were easy enough through the existing aperture, I then drilled a 10mm hole for the third one, which will be plugged with a blind grommet. This way it should be easier to reseal the rubber gaitor back in the existing position.

Hi,

I did a narrow cut out in the fibre glass and after the swap i covered the entire area vit a piece of thin marine playwood held in place and sealed by some Gaffa tape. :-) I did keep the old pop rivets for the rubbet groomet and just used a screwdriver to drive the ruber back under the old washers.

Hi chaps,

Thanks for the kind comments smile

Here's a link to the replacement saddle bush that I'd recommend also renewing (unless you're happy your existing one is OK - mine was):

http://www.burtonpower.com/saddle-gearlever-to-sel...

(I promised a couple of people I'd link to that, so seemed easier to do it here.)

It's possible to get a brass one too, but I'd probably advise against that for road use. They can be a bit noisy!

All the finished levers have been sold, though I have an unpainted one sitting around somewhere that I'll get prepped up and painted. No concrete plans to do another run, but will play it by ear/demand.

Thanks

Yes, that short video was very interesting and showed the reduction in movement achieved.

Not quite as easy to fit on an S1 as the transmission tunnel is all one with the dash. Probably even more relevant on the S1 as there is a little less room to find reverse than on the later cars.

I got one off Richard, plus the bush he refers to. Nice job. Frustrated that I cant fit it yet as the engine/box is coming out.

Having fitted mine at the weekend, I can confirm that this is a great modification, much more positive gear location and a shorter shift. Very pleased with the result and quite a satisfying little job to do.

After all these very favourable reviews, who could resist?
I would be interested in one if another batch were to be made.
Definitely don't find the standard gearshift the slickest in the world! (Although it helps to slow me down).

Could anyone upload the video to YouTube or similar for those not on facebook?

Thanks

Thanks for that, definitely be happy to take one off your hands should you decide to do another batch.
