I think those saying it looks like the back end of a Corvette or F-type are being generous. Personally I think it look a bit unimpressive, to me the 90s/00s cars looked like nothing else, they looked like an event. This looks like an average sports car.
Sums it up for me. The Cerbera and Tamora couldnt have been anything else. As much as times change this could be anything, perhaps except the interior which couldn't be.

Anyone slagging the car on the basis of those terrible photos need to check out Shmee's YouTube video - I had a totally different impression after that.
I think they will sell all they need to get up and running.

It's a shame the new TVR's won't be built in its former home of Blackpool, I've fond memories of walking round the factory seeing them being built and tested and can still remember the pungent smell of fibreglass resin and glues. wobble

I can see why the team must favour Ebbw Vale, the Circuit of Wales must be large draw if it ever gets the sign off. Rock up, spank one round the track or cruise round the Brecon Beacons, a positive selling point.

I think it looks fantastic. I don't get all the negative comments.

Its a new British car.

Christ we should be pleased there aren't many.

Take a look at Trident, who have an incredible car in the waiting. It probably will never happen unless funding is found.

I think when the dust has settled TVR will be OK, provided they have sufficient financial back up to get up and running.
Thing is, we all know which way the wind is blowing don't we. You can't have failed to seen the headlines of recent months. TVR now not only have to build a competitive sports car, they have to somehow build a car that is also relevant to the market itself, which is, imo, starting to change, and change rapidly. If this car had been released, and was even on-par with similar performance cars in say 2012, then they might have had a few years to get a foothold (see Mclaren Auto for reference) but by the time the new Griffith reaches production in 2019, the world, and the passenger car market itself, could be, and i think, will be, significantly different to how it sits even today...........
This is true. The market is going through a pretty rapid evolution. But it's not a bad effort considering you originally claimed it was never going to happen. wink

There is possibly even an argument that demand for a car such as this could even be stronger as the global market all shifts to mobility scooters and creates more and more people who want to stick a finger at that for as long as they are allowed to?

Hmmm - love it from some angles and a bit meh from others.

I get the impression it will be a bit like the Evora and look a LOT better in the flesh.
I've refrained from commenting on the car since seeing the first images as frankly, I wasn't exactly sold on it at that point.

I've just seen it in the flesh and it's a good looking car. I suspect a different colour would make it more photogenic as well. Not entirely sure why they chose red.

Pretty sure i've never claimed that! I have claimed they possibly won't be able to make a long term business case, but i've never said they won't get a few limited edition models out to a few hundred customers. And that's the rub. They sell 500 of these new Griffiths to the people who want one, and then what? Realistically, they probably can't afford to design another completely new car, and so are into a lotus style "nip and tuck" type facelift here and there. And all the time, the world moves on, and the direction it's going is most certainly rather different to those halcion days of the early naughties etc?

I was there yesterday and agree in the flesh it looks a lot better. I did ask the GMD styling team there why they chose red as it wasn't a great colour imho. They sort of shrugged which told me it wasn't their preferred colour, perhaps they are holding back the true LE colour, but for the love of me I can't see why.
I actually think the Shmee video shows you more as when I went onto the stage for a closer look it had too many trying to do the same thing. Got told off for leaning a bit onto the seat to get a better look hehe.

If the TVR had looked as good as that then I could have been tempted.

I wasn't at Goodwood this weekend, but that's the reaction from a number of mates (ex or current, serial TVR owners) who saw the car.
