No front number plate eek
Not a working Police car, more a promotional Police car to get kids interested in joining the Police.

It got in the way of the laser cannons.

Most of these are just PR stunts though, they are not actual Police cars as per the OP.

Okay, so... Britain is known the world over for its purpose-built black cab. This very same principle was used by a US company to develop and propose the E7 -- a car conceived in collaboration with law enforcement personnel and developed for use solely as a police car.

The endeavour lasted a number of years before recently failing (due to the inability to secure further investment capital). A single full-scale and operating prototype was built.

- No light bar on top: the police lights are flush mounted into the roof line

- Rear doors open in reverse (so-called suicide doors) to make it easier to slide perp's in and out

- Front seats have particular indents which accommodate a police officer's oversized belt

- The rear of this vehicle is engineered to take a 75 MPH impact (not an unknown experience of highway patrol officers who often work / park at the side of the road)

- The manufacturer had signed an agreement with BMW for a high-output turbo-diesel straight-six.

Rover SD1 as seen on the liver run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnW-sTwxeUM

Ford Capri - GMP, no markings on the bonnet and tricky at the lights if you were unwary https://goo.gl/images/fkm5Um

The Ford Escort modified by Humberside Police to survive crossing speed humps at 70 when chasing joy riders https://www.flickr.com/photos/humbersidepolicepics...

The modified Senator paired with the Escort above. Modified for no rear windows so the dog could get out quicker on a decamp...

Range Rovers with the black bonnets and orange wings used by the Met to push broken down cars off the elevated sections of the A40 and M40 (among other duties)

And finally - but coolest of all - a st brown Ford Consul https://goo.gl/images/sGs2Jx "Get your trousers on, you're nicked"

Saw one of these tooling about on The Embankment recently, didn't say Met on it anywhere though, so assume a demonstrator. Looked ace.

When the Ford factory was at Halewood, they may have had an especially good relationship with Merseyside Police

Strathclyde Police had a fleet of 3-litre Capris, marked and unmarked. Registration numbers were all YUS8**S.

We have these on the local roads...

6.2 supercharged V8 with an upgrade to make around 500kW/660bhp, 0-100kmh in around 4s.

Available in unmarked flavour, and in many HSV showrooms around the country, for about AU$100k.

I always thought the unmarked Crown Vic looked pretty cool, the kind of car someone gets bundled into by two men wearing sunglasses and black suits:

These are dirt cheap in the US. Like $1500 for an 07 and they just keep running.

Beds police had an unmarked Xj12 in maroon back in the 70's
Thames Valley had an Opel Monza in full livery on test .
The Opel got written off by a drunk driver while attending a motorway smash .
Beds also tested Chrysler 2ltrs and Chrysler Avenger 2dr , they both were far quicker than the standard cars they were supposed to be .
