I predict 20 pages.
You would have to assume that there will be at least 7 pages of Ahbefive telling anyone that didn't happen to choose the RS over the competition exactly how they are wrong.

Is this really worth it over getting a fully optioned car and the Quaife fitted by Mountune? I could live without the black roof.

Yes, because it's significantly cheaper than a fully-optioned car with a Mountune diff.

"I'm not really a fan of limited-slip differentials on the front," he said. "It allows you to put all the power to the road but the trade-off is more throttle-on understeer into the corners - generally I find them to be less engaging too."
Erm, really? An ATB on the front axle, in my experience, reduces/eliminates understeer - that's the whole bloody point of them! Try driving any so-equipped Type-R or Mk1 FRS and see what happens...

As for engagement - I've only found them to corrupt the steering on turbocharged cars, not nat-asp ones. And esp. where the torque comes in suddenly. Given a linear engine (turbo or n/a) and there's not THAT much impact on the steering (almost none in the Hondas I've owned/driven, and then usually in response to significant camber changes). Certainly they're well worth the trade-off vs a non diff-equipped car.

The Option Pack name is defunct - it's called the RS Edition.
Just awaiting clarification from Ford but all literature on the Euro launch kept Option Pack name and as I understand (correct me if you know better!) the RS Limited Edition branding is for the limited run North American version of the same.

Thanks!

Dan
So we've just had confirmation from Ford that the car is the Focus RS Edition - good intel David87! We'll amend the story now.

Cheers,

Matt

Cosmetically nasty - tarted up on the Nitrous Blue and they chavved up the buckets to match the standard Nitrous seats - and two of the worst options (city stop and heated wheel) bundled in. None of the old stock carbon bits like the US version got?

At least the diff is easy to retrofit. Did Mountune change it for the Mk3 or was it still burning through their old Mk2 stock?

Anyway no regrets here for not going for the Option Pack. I'm sure at some point it'll be worth extra used but who cares about that?

When does production & orders finally shut down by the way?

I would just pick up a secondhand early car for £19-23k and save myself a packet on new price.

One for the Ford RS fanboys, but £36K plus the performance upgrade pack starts to make it look expensive, bearing in mind theres no discount avail....

The Edition does indeed get the same carbon interior bits as the North American cars. Apparently production of these will be between September and December, so presumably that'll be the end?

No worries! I only knew as I've one on order and read the RS forum! I wish Ford were more forthcoming with info though - we only got prices and final spec yesterday, plus there's still the question mark over whether Race Red will be available or not. Supposedly there are the 500 blue ones and then 200 red ones on top of that.

OK. To me the carbon trim bits weren't an incentive; apart from whatever value was in owning the 'special edition' I just couldn't see the point of having it as pretty much the whole list of new changes (colour, trim, the inclusive city stop & heated wheel) were things I'd actively avoid. Even the diff is a tradeoff and of all the things I'd change about the car that wasn't really high up the list.

A red one could be interesting but if you're stuck with the extra blue on the seats its a clash too far.

If it'd been a proper faster version I might have overlooked the rest, as it is I prefer the standard car.

To me this run out 'Edition' is just a half baked effort.

Damp Squib says I!

Maybe something along the lines of a lightweight model - usual stuff like no rear seats etc would make it a bit more appealing as a run out model.
