T- Charge (Toxicity Charge) - new London zone entry expense!
Discussion
My 2005 750 BMW is ok and my Dakar - so over 10L of V8 goodness that passes at my disposal. P38 RR will have to stay on station car park duty though.
....Said the man who often works in London but has never driven to central London in his life.
Was down there yesterday - come out the tube at Green park and your could almost chew the diesel fumes.

I have a 4.7l v8 and apparently
"You are not subject to the T-Charge. Your vehicle meets at least the Euro 4 / IV standard (Euro 3 if you are a motorised tricycle or quadricycle). You do not need to take any action."
That said, although I live in London, I try to avoid driving in it at all costs.
Right, I'm getting a V8."You are not subject to the T-Charge. Your vehicle meets at least the Euro 4 / IV standard (Euro 3 if you are a motorised tricycle or quadricycle). You do not need to take any action."

Well unsurprisingly my old E Class will be charged and rightly so. It's a 3.2 diesel and not meant for inner city driving, great on the motorway and that's why I own it.
I do find it a little ironic that I can sit doing 8-10mpg in my CLS63 and that's deemed acceptable. I know it chucks out different fumes than a diesel but it's hardly an eco car.
Oddly I was chatting to a lad at work who has a 2007 120 diesel and it's exempt. I thought they were being harsher on diesels and they had to be from 2010 onwards or something. Just as well though as he lives quite centrally.
Either way, I'll stick with Southern Fail bringing me into the city for work. They should be charged for the amount of bullsh!t they spew into the air but that's another story.

Hooray - somebody (else) who understands!
I do indeed.I also find it annoying how so many people are basing their car buying on this sort of thing "OOOOhhhh I have to buy a petrol car because they're banning all diesels from London"
1. "They" aren't and they can't.
2. You never flipping go to London anyway. You do not have the slightest idea of where the congestion zone covers and you are so thick you think diesels are banned.
I, for the record, live in Zone 1. I drive a 350 Mercedes CLS diesel. I have NEVER paid the congestion charge, I park right outside my house every evening on a single yellow line and need no permit to do so. I drive around London, never have any issue parking when I am out at a restaurant in Soho or Shoreditch.
Why? Because i know the system, i work with it and I read the facts not the headlines.
Never really understood why so many cars are in London centre. The public transport there is really good. Surely it'd be better to drive to the outskirts and train/tube in?
I don't live there though, just work occasionally, but would he interested to know from people who do drive there every day, why they do it.
Regarding fumes, A great article here though in the merits of old and new cars below. Not everything is quite as I expected...
