I didn't want to post in the main thread, too PH'y for me.

I desperately want TVR to succeed - never owned one - but that didn't stop me dreaming about buying one/scrutinising the classifieds in my youth.

But that exterior design leaves me totally cold, like the illegitimate child of an AMG Mercedes and a Toyota. But am in a minority in thinking that? Would much rather by a Sagaris. But what do all the ex-TVR guys here think of the new car launched today?

I sincerely hope the new Vantage looks, hmm...better

I have had two TVRs previously, I can see what they are trying to do.

The current clientele of this price group seems to be after something different these days. I will need to have a better look in person before any judgement - you could argue that is what people have said about DB11.

Weve had 2 TVRs Tuscan and Sagaris, love the cars but the new one does not hit the mark in any way other than expected performance. Dont like the styling inside or out.

It's not getting a great deal of love on the main thread, mainly I think because the hopes were so high, it may be a good car but the fan base wanted a great car.
I've just jumped ship from 18 years of TVR ownership into a Vantage, as seems to be quite a common move at the moment and this wouldn't be tempting me back.
I'm not, and probably never will be in the market for £90k new cars, but £30k special used ones, yes and this isn't special enough.
Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh but the hype has been too much for too long and delivery is still years away, if I had £90k it'd be going on a new Vantage or a 911, if this was priced nearer a Ginetta G40 at £30k they'd be beating punters back with a stick but at £90k they are up against some big hitters, hope it succeeds for all involved though.

Apart from my V8VR, I still own 3 TVRs but the new one, despite all the marketing hype about 'heritage' and 'DNA' looks like any modern sports car. Ginetta, Marcos, Toyota GT86 (or whatever they call it) - it could be any of them with a TVR badge on it. Heritage Schmeritage, it will even be made in Wales or so we're told.

When's my new Vantage going to be ready?

After a Griffith and a T350C I invested in a Cantage. After g6 years I'm still in love with it.
An orange Sagaris could tempt me at some point but the new car was a disappointment styling wise. I can buy a Vantage AMR for around £90ish so why would I buy the TVR. Sadly I think they aimed at the wrong market.

7 of them over more than 20 years for me so definite fan of the marque but I don't see the new one tempting me back.
Unfortunately I think they havecomeback at a time when legislation and wind tunnels/ efficiency/ pedestrian safety requirements do more for car design than designers do. The ability to put their own identity onto a car has been removed from them and so the end result is always going to look like an amalgamation of other car makers products.
Also to stand a chance of initial success I don't think they could afford to be outlandish and while I like the idea of colourful cars the launch colour doesn't seem to do the car any favours at all.
I really hope they do well but whereas before TVR could be the bad boy with the same or better performance for two thirds the cost of the established players now they are going to have to battle it out on the same rung of the ladder as everyone else.
They have all the basic ingredients there so if they can survive the first year or so of production then I am sure they will be able to bring in the next generation of buyers rather than the old brigade.
Didn't want to knock the brand I favoured for years but hopefully I will change my mind when I see the car in the flesh.

I was really hoping that this was going to be as outlandish as some of their later cars but it seems pretty underwhelming. I'm sure it will present itself much better in the flesh, in fact the overall proportions, interior and some of the details such as the exhausts are quite interesting, however that face is all wrong....too much Lightning Mcqueen going on. Shame about that as it's such an important part of a car's design. That said, not many cars are going to score points for design in the Aston forum. I reckon it will go like stink and I really hope they do well...good luck to them.

Ok so Shmee has ordered one and here is the video of him at the launch.

Sorry but this is not doing anything for me apart from the tech spec, normally aspirated, 500bhp, manual etc etc. But the styling......certainly the rear....nope!

I thought the new Vantage render put up in the other thread looked more TVR than this!

I hate to be so disappointed too.

I also think about the price point when I had mine - such a good looker still...

If that V8S would have been the equivalent of around £100k in my late twenties I couldn't have possibly got anywhere near it.

I always hankered after an Esprit but could 'only' afford the TVR and it had a roaring 4 litre V8 with no cats... Damn reliable too.

Cars absolutely have to float the visual boat and no one knows it more than this forum...

Much of my misspent youth was spent bombing up and down the Kings road in a racing green one of those. Fantastic car and fanny magnet 😊

I’ll see the new one in the flesh on Sunday but can’t say I like it from the pics. The front end looks like a Lexus or something Japanese. Price point also completely wrong for a Trevor.

Sadly I suspect this car will bomb like Kim Jong Un.

Agree with everything said. I've had 5 TVRs moved to hating a 911 and then loving a V8V. For £90k I'll have a 2nd hand DBS and cash in my pocket, or 2 V8Vs or a V12V or.....you get my point - choice of sexy cars for sale will kill it.....

My TVRs were all priced to compete with the Boxster range not the 911s!

Nothing like comparing new cars to used cars...

What can you buy that matches it for £90k?

Lotus Evora maybe? 911? They're no where near 400bhp/tonne

Yes yes my mistake, much rather to have a new 5 series rather my V8V. New is soooo much better. New TVR much better than a used Lambo.......

You can't compare the prices of used vs new though rolleyes obviously the used one will be better value for money...

I see where you're coming from but for practical purposes isn't Veg right here?

After all if I have £90k to spend on a car today I do actually have the choice between buying a new TVR or a used "insert car of choice"?

And on that basis if I wanted a TVR I'd buy a Sagaris for £70k or a V12V instead of a new Griffith. Once the new ones have depreciated down to £45-50k they might become interesting for some (albeit the styling doesn't appeal to me so it would still be a no)

It might be what some would consider but it goes without question you would get more car for your money when buying used. For a fair comparison I believe you need to compare to similar priced new cars to see what value for money you're getting. I don't see how comparing it to a 10 year old Vantage is worthwhile

For example, in terms of power to weight of the new TVR, nothing new for £90k comes close.

Just to get this back on topic ............ I'm afraid that interior is horrible and such a letdown compared to previous TVRs.

I was expecting to say, "Wow".

Such disappointment though.
When I saw the launch photograph, I said, "Mazda".
