This device has never functioned on my 1996, 500 and was removed long ago as I suspected it was flattening the battery.

After making a few simple measurements it was obvious that a single shorting link would restore some functionality.

The courtesy light now comes on when either door is opened and extinguishes when the doors close, OK not as original but better than nothing.

And no battery drain, unless you leave a door open

If anyone is interested I will post details.

Another YES please, just pre-empting any system failure.

Details of the shorting link:

http://www.bertram-hill.com/courtesy-light.html

I used two spade terminals and a very short link, that is both neat and makes a decent connection.
