Since when did insurance companies recommend autowatch ghost? If not even insurance approved.

Any why did they wait in the bedroom, was it not a bit awkward.

Smells like by product of bullock chewed grass
I'm glad someone else said that. I'm already cynical by default with most stuff posted down the intertubes but that tale sounded more like an opening scene to a Taken movie than a real event. I had to read it to the end to see if Liam Neeson turned up slightly out of breath. There's just a few too many clichés in the story for it to be believable to me boxedin

Turns out it was my turn last night...woken at 4am to the sound of scum bags attempting to get into my house, think they were trying front and rear door at the same time as the bangs only seem to be going for around 10-15 seconds both panes of glass in the doors smashed on the outside but the internal must be reinforced so they didn’t get in.

fking scared stless as I ran down, they were gone but not sure what I would have done if I came face to face with them probably helped them get the keys.

Police were with us in 5-10 mins and a dog came a bit later so no complaints with them.

So now got a scared 11yo daughter to try and comfort still a bit shaken up myself.

Goodbye golf R and going boring now.

Cops and court need to start handing out some proper sentences. This is getting way to common now.

And this is why my interior doors have 1 way locks on them! By the time they have got through 1 door the alarm would be ringing and I would be armed and ready to dominate the stairs

One major issue though... do anything to them and its you thats going to jail... which is wrong but highly likely the most probable outcome.

and if the story above is true then they wouldnt bother going near you they would put a knife to those who mean most to you....giving you little choice on what to do next...

Also, even if you did do something to them and got away with it, I think the not knowing if they would come back in the future for revenge would probably be worse than it actually happening - it would suck any enjoyment and relaxation out of life.

Technically you're allowed to defend yourself against attackers in your own home using whatever necessary force. Whether or not you brain damaged the thief is irrelevant. I'm sure you could stage it to make it look like he was about to attack you (even if he wasn't), they're going to have to prove otherwise. And I guess chopping off a limb or two with a machete is a good enough deterrent to stop the thief coming back. So in essence... Go hard or go home.

Edinburgh. Knew they are a risk but you don’t hear about it much here.Police said another R was taken same night and used in a crime over in Fife.
The cars gone now so bought myself a 1.8 A4 so hopefully I can sleep better at night!

Oh I don’t know I’ve awoke to the alarm going off a few times (false alarms) usually I’ve run to the front window to see if I can see anyone at the car by which time the wife has got me a few items and I’ve been ready and wide awake, usually I shout downstairs I’ve unlocked the door and gone in lights on and armed, I asked the police this situation and they said in your own home you don’t have to wait to be attacked you can strike first but the level of damage you do has to be proportionate they say if there’s a genuine danger to life and you kill them as long as it’s justified you will get away with it however if you kill someone who is unarmed then it’s murder etc etc or if they run out and you chase after them then you’re then the attacker!

What would actually happen if I came faceto face with someone though I don’t know

I keep reading about auto watch, why can’t it let the car be started and driven for a short time, before it cuts the engine if you don’t enter the code, they wouldn’t get far and they wouldn’t be in your house.

But that only works if you are car jacked, why can’t a system let the vehicle be started and driven for a short time, before cutting the engine, this would get the thieves away from the property and give the owner chance to call police.

Ignore the name, it isn't a feature just for car jackings.

When you start the car each time, you need to enter a code, if you don't it cuts off a mile or something later with horn on and lights flashing.

Has been around for decades, Clifford is a reputable company.

They do look good but I always worry about reliability.

As all these cars have inbuilt alarms and immos as it is, if something goes wrong in 10 years it can be a nightmare. I guess it depends on the quality of the install.

I know others have mentioned a system that does that, but there are some serious risks with that.

My M4 was stolen after a burglary in early January and was on the motorway in a matter of minutes. What happens if the car stops in the outside lane? The risk of a serious crash involving innocent drivers would be huge and you’d have questions to answer about that.

I’ve fitted a Ghost system on the new one, along with a Cat 5 tracker and massively upgraded my house security and external protection around the car.
